Made a special trip to this restaurant based on the NY Times "36 Hours in Buenos Aires" article from last fall. Disappointing. The "atmosphere" is wonderful - could not have been more enchanting visually upon entering - I was very excited about the place. The (literal) atmosphere was not so nice - one of the staff was smoking behind the... More

Great coffee off the beaten path. We were the only Englush speakers there. We loved the astmosphere and walked there taking in Congress Plaza on the way

I wandered into Bar de Cao one rainy Sunday morning as I went towards the San Telmo shops. It was about half full with older people, but all the waitresses except for one was probably 24. I sat down, had a glass of wine and a sandwich, while the waitresses all smiled and laughed to take turns serving me. As... More

Good choices for food on the menu, great old world atmosphere, fun for an evening with friends! They have craft beers as well as Quilmes.

I'm not from here but was told this is a food local place. It has a very nice real genuine local feel to it. We had tortillas and they were super yummy and cold cuts platter to share. Lovely staff and good prices Definitely recommend

Bar de Cao is a good spot for food considering this area of the city is lacking in good restaurants. Had the steak sandwich which was excellent, while I tried my friends hamburger which was not so good and over cooked. Dinner time the place is packed, quality of food overall is good!

Great atmosphere, cool looking place, sister restaurant to Bar el Federal in San Telmo. Service is standard for BA. Food was terrible. Had the milanesa which was tough amd basically inedible. Maybe other things on the menu are better. Standard argentine fare. Make sure to finish off your meal with a glass of hesperidina digestif

We had dinner here after our hostel owner recommended it, but we were unimpressed. Our server ignored us for a long time while we watched her help the people at other tables. Not a good experience.

Good atmosphere, popular restaurant, although steak overcooked-rest of the food good! Gets incredibly busy in the evening after 9pm, but service quick. Staff do not speak English, so take a phrase book if you need to!
