This is very popular so you really need to reserve a table or arrive around 7:30pm to get a table. By 9pm the place was full with a great buzz and a queue of hopeful diners forming. The food and service were great, got by with our broke Spanish and their broken english (some staff speak good english but they... More

Our host recommended this place for us to have lunch. It was a great recommendation, the a la carte is rather pricy but the lunch menu (a choice of each three starters, mains and desserts) is rather cheap and very well prepared.

We went without a reservation and, arriving just before their 8PM opening, were seated without difficulty. It seems that nearly half the sizable restaurant, the bar and all the tall tables in the front, cannot be reserved so if you are willing to eat at the unfashionably early hour of 8:00 or 8:30, it should not be a problem. The... More

We were craving Spanish food so we decided to try El Burladero. Great selection of tapas, we tried the Gambas al ajillo, boquerones and setas&eggs. We had red wine to enjoy the tapas. Good ambient, good service, definitively a place to go back!

My father came for a visit and we decided to go to this restaurant very early in the afternoon since it was very close to his hotel. We arrive, and since we didnt have a reservation, we were seated at the bar where you can easily eat. Most of the waiters and barmans were really great and we have fun... More

We came very early, right after the restaurant opened in the evening. It was soon very packed and when we left, the people stood in a very long line waiting for a table. Not surprising! The service was amazing. Our spanish is very poor, but they were patient and kind all the time. We all had different starters, main courses... More

Sophisticated, but casual and friendly atmosphere. Good waiters. Good wine selection, including some higher-ranked wineries from both Spain and Argentina. And above all, very tasty food that was very reasonably priced as well (at least the lunch menu! Three-course with a glass of wine and coffee for about 300 pesos each). Favorite dish so far: white fish with gazpacho of... More

I arrived in Buenos Aires today after a trip to Antarctica. I wanted a simple dinner - no big New year's eve extravaganza. They took me for a last minute booking - and I am very happy that they did. There was a special menu for the new year - with choices for starter, main and dessert. The staff were... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
