Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the outside, you wouldn't give a lot of credit to this place, which looks like an ordinary bistrot in a big street of Buenos Aires. Well, you couldn't be more wrong. Everything there is great: the decor is flawless and very well curated, the...service is great and extremely professional, and the food is sublime. When we got in, we were welcomed by a waiter that showed the menu and gave us his advice, making us feel comfortable and at our ease. The antipasto arrived quickly and was delicious (rabbit pate), the main was simply the best cooked meet we had in Argentina (and not only), and also the dessert was very good. Overall, a great experience, which I recommend to all those that are in Buenos Aires. Go eat at Cafe San Juan, you won't regret it!More

Went with friends the food was fantastic Burrata cheese with tomato pesto was delicious. The smoked pastrami just ok. The short rib ravioli and smoked pork chop outstanding The fish payayea was a little fishy The aperol sprintzer was a bargain for $3 and tasted...great along with wine Would highly recommend our selectionsMore

Went there after suggestion from locals and discovered a place that definitely worth a visit. It is a small place just 5 minutes walking from Plaza Dorrego in S.Telmo, atmosphere it's wonderful and the place just so beautiful to give you the feeling to be...sitting into a filming location. Service it's professional and you can feel the staff is doing its job with passion. Food is just great: not just a dinner but a culinary experience. Highly recommendedMore

We took a table towards the back which gave us a better view of the Open Kitchen Concept. , though we should have sit at the bar type seating adjacent to the **chefs**.. we shared a nice Salad which should have been our starting and...ending point. However we had a pasta and a lasagna dish. I had the latter. Not so good from this point...my dish arrived in the same iron pot it was cooked in..the handles on each side were wrapped as the fixture was so hot you could have ignited paper on it.  I love to heat my plates before plating and I dislike food delivered on cool plates, but this was SO Hot I could not eat it . I waited minutes and decided to transfer it to the plate it sat on.  The ease which this was done spoke abundantly to me what to expect, especially so when 90+% of the Sauce was left behind. A horrible mess of an attempt to copy good Italian cooking  but smothering the dish in less than a complimentary oil..and far too much of it, hello Excessive.. I took advantage of my position to watch the preparation by the 4-5 young  lads.. they would all fail Hells Kitchen, and then a chap dressed fully in opposite white appeared and  Walked about and seemed fully approving of what was taking place.. I left most of the plate they delivered me and while I might consider returning here there are some basic fundamentals of Italian dishes seriously missing from what we were served. Excellent waiteress. More

A terrible and frustrating experience! We called early on to make a reservation, but nothing was available before 11pm. We ended up arriving at 10.30pm and the restaurant was already empty, we ate by ourselves.... I ordered a pork dish, supposedly cooked for 9h, that...was unbelievably dry and I couldn't even chew it. The patridge that my boyfriend ordered was the size of a quail and served with undercooked potatoes on an old, super dirty and absolutely unhealthy pan. The bread served was also not fresh at all. DO NOT GO!More

We went for dinner and sat next to the kitchen where you can see your order being cooked. The chefs are very professional and seem to prepare the dishes with no rush but efficiently. I enjoyed my pasta and pudding.

We stumbled upon this restaurant near the end of our vacation, and loved our dinner so much, we came back the next night for another dinner! Prices are reasonable, and every dish we had was AMAZING. The garlic prawns, the pork shoulder, the ribeye, and...for dessert the chocolate terrine!! Just to name a few. Cute, small place, and our server Greta was wonderful!!!More

Following the waiter's advice we took a pasta dish (spaghettini) with squid and roasted brussels sprouts. Really a delight that we accompany with a tasty wine and add as a dessert a coconut cookie with cream that was absolutely exquisite. The place is little but...the atmosphere is very nice, and meals preparation is really good. So I can recommend it as a place worth enjoying.More

This is a classic stop while doing the museums around, and alternative to the other choices you have inside San Telmo Market, is a classic for locals and for other province Argentinians. So you should try it at least once. It's very authentic even if...has a Spanish food menu.More
