This was first of 7 or so restaurants visited and in hindsight it was quite good. Honest old school decor big cuts of well cooked beef ( you can easily split dishes here unless you are carnivore to the core), good service. Overall it is quintessential. Benchmark.

We visited based largely on the reviews on trip advisor and were not disappointed. We arrived early (around 7pm) and didn't have any issue getting a table in a Sunday evening without a reservation. Having said that, around half an hour later, groups of four people or more were being turned away. The food was delicious, our steak arrived a... More

We had a delicious hanger steak, an arugula salad and a bottle of wine. It was very reasonably priced and quite delicious. Highly recommended when visiting the San Thelmo area in downtown Buenos Aires.

Had dinner here, 2nd padilla in BA. Great location, a lot of atmosphere, although quite loud. At least half of the patrons are locals. The meat was fantastic, the service really nice and quick. Good recommendation for the wine. The prices are very reasonable. A great evening. If you have only one padilla to go in San Telmo, choose this... More

Felt very touristy, service was poor and we felt like we were being rushed through. One steak eater who found the steak to be good (about a 4/5) and one vegetarian. Realise it's not designed for vegetarians but the pastas were fairly unexciting, although fine. The roast potatoes on the other hand were delicious.

Great steakhouse between subway and San Telmo street fair. Excellent wine list including many half bottled of malbec. Service is fast and English speaking. The portions are huge for all courses.

Best parrilla in Buenos Aires. Very nice, old style, local parrilla (not a touristy trap). Everything from the bread/appetizers, main meal, drinks, was A+ quality. In BA for business, went at opening time (8pm) and were originally told by Host that no table available due to reservations - but server quickly stated he could arrange some things. Service was A+... The meat was really good but besides thats nothing really special. Anyway Argentina is known for their good meat so if you want a good one you have to try.

The food here is to die for. Steaks are massive and the bread basket and dip beforehand is beautiful. Our waiter was busy and we did have to wait. But the wait was worth it.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
