Well, this was eccentric. There was a cabaret one night based on the life of Edith Piaf. It was a talented young French woman and on a Tuesday night at 10, it was sold out. I can see why. It is a dinner show and the food was nice and well priced. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed an evening there recently whilst staying in BA. It is as all intimate venue with a great atmosphere, all seats are close to the music which is at floor level. We did not eat there but food looked reasonable if not great.

It is an interesting experience, but one best entered into with an already full stomach. We reserved, lined up at the counter of the CD store to pay our entry and choose our table, and finally were allowed in. After being shown our table and given our menus, we managed about 20 min. later to stand and flag a waiter... More

A friend recommended that we check this place out. We're sure glad we did. We chose a Sunday night. On the roster was Jorge Anders Jazz Orchestra. We couldn't believe it when the musicians began to arrive - 13 in all, plus Anders. The seating in the restaurant is a bit tight and that's not a compliant. We were at... More

Had a nice dinner and watched a really great show last night. Notorious is an excellent place to go for a meal and some first class entertainment while visiting Buenos Aires. I have been going to this club at least once during each of my BA vacations over the last 8 years and have not ever been disappointed. I find... More

Notorious to begin with you have to live up to the name yes, well yes. The group that night was Juan Nevani Trio a trio just a trio but wow what a fun versatile and energetic trio in a Tribute to Nat King Cole with all the melody irreverence and fun that his music evoked so long ago and today... Notorious is listed as a restaurant but it's also a popular jazz club in Buenos Aires. I went there for the music, not the food. From the outside Notorious looks like a CD store. Once you're inside, the storefront leads down a corridor to a jazz club and restaurant in the back. The club is on Avenida Callao (pronounced cashhou)... More

It is an interesting record store facing Callao Avenue, with excellent selection of CD's. Well known as a top Jazz Club. On Saturdays you can enjoy good Brazilian music and typical brazilian dish called Feijoada.

Our Holiday in Buenos Aires was full of good things but, in looking at them all, I have to say that our evening in "Notorious" outclassed everything else. Our guide book described it rather poorly, but even their description sounded attractive. Facing the street is an interesting record store, with CD's which clearly show that their buyer is a person... More

For nearly two decades, Notorious has became the main jazz spot in Buenos Aires. At 100 meters away from the traditional corner of Callao y Santa Fe, Notorious has the perfect combination of music and gastronomy, gathering at the same place a specialized records store, a bar, a restaurant and the venue with a beautiful garden. The main musicians from many different styles and countries have played there leaving at the air his magic and charm. Recommended by the Downbeat Magazine as one of the best Jazz Clubs in the world, is also perfect for many different situations, like breakfast, lunch, tea or dinner.

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
