El federal, at just a short walk from Puerto Madero, proved to be a great choice! The menu of chef Gabrielle was very nice. 4 courses, nice wines and a great service for a very sharp price. We will be back.

This was, for sure, one of the best places we had lunch in BA. The service is very very good, specially considering the dreadful treatment you usually get in Argentina. The price is reasonable and totally worth it. We tried the Patagonian lamb, it was amazing!! There is a very beautiful church very near, so it's worth the visit to... More

I first visited this place in 2015 and thought it was fantastic. Left an lasting impression, the atmosphere is great inside with a rustic look. The service is exceptional and if you need help, the servers tend to speak English. The food is fantastic, last time I visited I had some lamb empanadas and Patagonia Mia (braised lamb), both were... Must husband eats here every trip to BA so I had to try it with him. I was not disappointed and I am sooo picky. Very good food, dirt cheap. Our waiter was excellent. We don't speak Spanish so he tried to speak English and we had a great time ordering and eating and ordering some more. Delightful meal. Highly... More

I love this they introduce dishes from different part of Argentina here! Great presentation, good service, very interesting menu - I ordered a main course of fish with a dash of ice cream! Also they have an option of sharing a main course with extra side dishes, very flexible! I love their tea collection! Created by one of the top... More

There were so many missteps in our experience at El Federal this could be a very long review, so I'll mention the most egregious here. Walked in at about 7-7:30 to an empty restaurant. The manager (Owner?) vaguely pointed to a section of tables where we sat ourselves. We ordered a bottle of wine from the list, they didn't have... More

Visited three times in a week over the course of social functions for a conference which I was attending. The restaurant has a relaxed authentic feel to it with lots of chunky wooden furniture and a simple but flavoursome South American menu. Between the three events I had the chance to try their three course menu, nibbles/snacks and wine selection;... More

While attending a conference in Buenos Aires I actually attended this restaurant twice, once for a cocktail function and another for a sit down dinner. The staff were not overly friendly, and for our sit down dinner for a large group of 25 people they tried to overcharge us a full sitting, The food was good, not the best I've... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
