Came to the Africa Cafe on our last night in Cape Town. Quite touristy but that makes it so wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious and has tons of vegetarian options, which isn't easy to come by in some foreign countries. A performance and face painter came by during dinner, which I loved.

Yes it seems touristy with the song-and-dance of the wait staff and their costumes, but it's still worth it if you're looking for a quality selection of cuisines from all over the African continent. Everything is small plate/tapas but you can repeat any of the dishes---they're actually surprised if you don't ask for seconds. It is also an institution that... More

The ambiance of the place was very welcoming and relaxing. They offered a nice selection of dishes that were each different and unique. Not from South Africa but would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the area. The group singing and playing the drums were a added treat that will not be forgotten as well as the face painting.

I thought the ambience as well as the food was exceptional. The fact that they represent foods from all over Africa was great and delicious. Also enjoyed the entertainment.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us upon our arrival in Cape Town by our tour co. proprietor. We decided to check it out. Upon arrival since the four of us did not have any reservations, the staff asked us to wait a couple of minutes to check for availability. Lucky for us there was a table for 4! We... More

Set menu of 16 dishes- pick the ones you like and ask for more if you can fit it in. Absolutely stuffed with delicious food. A great way to taste different countries dishes all in Cape Town. Music was fun. Definitely recommend - even the grumpy hubby got his face painted, tapped his feet with the music, and agreed all... More

I absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was fantastic. Even though they come in small plates (but you can repeat your favorites as much as you like), as I went by myself, I found myself struggling to even finish the first round - and I do eat a lot! The service was also really nice as the waitress paid a... More

Was expecting to hate the whole touristy thing but it was actually quite fun. Even got my face painted !!! The star of the show here is the food. Everything here was delicious. Pace yourself - there's a lot to get through.

Expected a touristy experience and got it. And it was great. Tasted lots of different dishes. (It's a set meal of 16 things). Wasn't expecting a good food but I was wrong. The food was great. We were stuffed. Singing waiters, face painting and all. A really fun time. I'm a NY foodie snob. Not something I thought I would... More

I'll start off by saying it was cool experience. Very creative and colorful decorations everywhere. The lady servers go around and paint people's faces. It took a little while to receive drinks or food. This is not genuine African food, but it was good. There is a gift shop downstairs with high quality items.
