My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Addis. A couple of fellow travelers who we met while in Cape Town told us about Addis and it sounded intriguing. We found that the restaurant was a short walk from the Green Market; so one evening after visiting the market, we decided to walk over and give it a try.... More

Probably the most original food we had in Cape Town. It was fun and good to eat. We had the vegetarian and non vegetarian mixed platter where you get several small portions of the various dishes available. Great way to sample the variety of food. The waiter was also very helpful.

If you are looking for a traditional meal, you have come to the right place. The experience is quite unique, with a beautiful decor and table setting, all rigorously traditional Ethiopian. The waiter made excellent suggestions to introduce us to Ethiopian food, which helped us pick something new for us. Amazing choice! Since we were with our one year old... More

As a party of 12 we decided to give Addis a try. Nice ambience and ethnic feel. We all chose the combo as it seemed good value for money - except when the food arrived. R57 for a starter that was no more than two very tiny bowls of spicy mix. Then the main course. The lamb was terrible -... More

Good day, We have never received a review to this degree of disappointment and will definitely investigate this incident as this is certainly not acceptable to the standard we want to uphold. While an apology will regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience at Addis in Cape on this occasion, we would like to extend it with all sincerity.... More

We came for a late lunch and went for the vegitarian platter. Our waitress was very friendly and explained about ethiopian food. We enjoyed all the dishes on the platter and the atmosphere was nice.

I went here a few times during my holiday in Cape Town and loved this charming and authentic place just off main street. If you haven't had Ethiopian food before then I highly recommend it - full of flavour (but not too spicy) and you'll miss Injera bread when you get home! The staff were always really friendly as well... More

I always find myself craving their food and have been numerous times. It never disappoints. It's best to come in a group and have a shared food experience and make sure not leave without trying the coffee.

Really interesting place. I'd never had Ethiopian food before but it was great - a bit of a kick, very flavourful but not too spicy. Great service here too

This was a first for us. The food was delicious, the waiters explained the dishes, how the food was served and how it should be eaten, without making us feel uncomfortable. Great atmosphere and cosy decor. We had the combination dish and that was perfect for two. Three meat dishes and one vegetarian. The flavours were fantastic. A lovely night... More

Description
Addis in Cape! Voted best African Eatery in Cape Town, an authentic Ethiopian restaurant that caters for Non-vegetarian, Vegan and Vegetarian clients. We provide a unique communal dining experience you, your family and friends will remember. From traditional hand-wash ceremonies to our traditional Ethiopian coffee we promise a memorable experience.
Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its rich aromas and generous use of herbs and spices. The country was historically situated on trading routes that included the trade of many exotic spices; this history has had a tremendous influence on the taste of Ethiopian food as we know it. Today most of the herbs and spices are blended and prepared in the home with great love and attention, as are those used in Addis in Cape. The dishes that you taste here are unique to Ethiopia and we are proud as a restaurant to share them with you.
