This is a real Afrikaner pub serving traditional Voortrekker cuisine. Serving long-forgotten (but suddenly cool-again) dishes such as offal, their offering is interesting and really tasty. Great value with decent service.

I'm a regular at Bosvelder. Excellent meals and service. Reasonable prices and big portions. Always enjoyable. Have been there for birthday parties, with my husband, special occasions and were never disappointed.

Very nice place to have mutton potjie or just a good burger. Also has a play area for kids. If you want experience true South African boerekos this would be a good bet when your in the Pretoria area.

Why would staff serve my 18 year old son and girlfriend beer in the family area witout asking for their ID's but when we wanted to move to bar area the new bad attitude no brain bouncer as well as manager ask for ID because now all of a sudden they don't look 18...really...after going there plenty of times I will never go again and will spread the message as far as I go...can't stand idiotic behaviour!

Description
Die Bosvelder is closer to a holiday in the veld, than a mere eatery. This restaurant and pub offers a unique experience where the traditional South African lifestyle can be enjoyed. A restaurant with no pretences, Die Bosvelder is true to its name. Wooden furniture and a unique African feel await the diner. It is as South African as a restaurant can get, the people included. Die Bosvelder epitomises traditional South African-ness. It offers wonderful food, laid-back ambience and the friendliest service you're likely to find in Africa. The bushveld is a South African trademark and this original concept restaurant has kept the allure and feel of the veld. The interior and the food pays homage to one of the country's favourite destinations. Eat "kaiings", pofadder or skilpadjie, while enjoying the African sun on your back.
