I went to Cafe 1999 for dinner one Saturday evening. Unprepossessing little shopping centre was a good sign (I'd just run away from all the swanky, overpopulated restaurants I'm umhlanga to come here specifically)... great service from Koko who easily accommodated my requested variations ....More

My wife and I had dinner at this amazing restaurant and absolutely loved it. Don’t let the name mislead you- the food is all but 90s. The ambiance was sophisticated, without being pretentious. The wait staff, too, were brilliant. We sat in a little corner...More

Our party of 3 sat outside. Matt our waitron was exceptional. When he realized we were from out of town and had never eaten with them took time to explain the restaurant concept. Our food was fabulous, I had the tuna, the girls porcini pasta...More

the place seems to be not worth staying from outside. BUT we came here 3 times in 12 days. Nice food, nice wines, nice sommelier, nice staff. not posh, not too expensive, nice meals.

Ever recommended a restaurant and had to bear the consequences afterwards? This won’t happen here. A safe recommendation for out-of-towners looking for a good restaurant for business or social purposes. We go regularly as a couple and have never had a bad meal.
