Verdicchio’s Restaurant and Wine Cellar at Montecasino is nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. We felt like we were in a Tuscan villa, surrounded by the enchanting atmosphere of Montecasino. The setting was idyllic, making us feel as though we were dining in the heart of Italy itself. The food was a revelation, with each dish showcasing the chef's unparalleled skill and passion for Italian cuisine. The desserts were a delightful finale. While Verdicchio’s might be considered a premium dining destination, offering an upscale experience, the value was extraordinary, especially when compared to similar establishments in Canada where we’re from.

Firstly, the place can be a bit difficult to find if you are a first time visitor, as available arking spaces might not be on the same floor. However, once used to, iI guess it becomes easy.
As usual, such fine dining spaces are better reserved to avoid dissapointment. Our booking was confirmed on their register and we weere ursured upstairs to our table, where we found other members already seated.
We waited for our ordetrs to be taken, understandably so, as the place was fully booked. However, the waiter attebnded to our table and took our oderss, as usual, while waiting for our orders, we helped ourselves to some bottled wines.
i ordered, tukey and vergitables, and took my time to enjoy it, as for others, they had avariety of plates. We enjoyed the ambience and the level of service.

I had lunch here with two friends and had an excellent time. We started with cocktails, there is a good choice of classic and more modern cocktails as well as a large wine list. Warm bread rolls were brought to the table with a choice of butter, olive tapenade and a whipped feta dip.
As it was lunch time I did not want a huge main meal so just ordered the carpaccio starter. It was very good but not exactly as I have had it in Europe where it is completely uncooked. This appeared to have been cooked very rare and then thinly sliced, served with finely sliced cucumbers. There was balsamic and oil on the table which I added, as well as ground black pepper. It was very tasty. One of my friends had the same as me, while the other had veal saltimbocca which he said was excellent - it certainly looked very tasty.
We all three had desserts, mine was the almond ice cream with nut cracknel, the others had the white toblerone cheesecake, and the third had a ‘deconstructed’ tiramisu. I enjoyed my dessert as did my friend who had the tiramisu, but the other friend who had the cheesecake was disappointed with the taste and the texture. The service was reasonably good, although as the restaurant was quiet the staff did spend a lot of time chatting to each other rather than keeping an eye on the customers. All in all we had a very good lunch.

After visiting this place many times we decided to have our Christmas Day Lunch at this venue with our immediate family of 9 adults and 1 child and paid a R1000 deposit in advance. The booking was made weeks ago and after confirming 5 times during the week we arrived on time as planned. We were greeted by friendly waiters and ushered to our table which was squashed into one corner and the table was set for 8 people, 8 plates, 8 sets of utensils and 8 wine glasses. A lady approached us in a highly distressed state and seemed to be the manager or has she claimed to be the owner. She was not willing to assist by adding 2 chairs or to check our booking. Her body language, disdain and her aggressive comments totally unprofessional. Her arrogance, stubbornness, lack of leadership, or ability to simply check our reservation fell on deaf ears and she asked us to leave, and that she won’t add chairs and won’t be serving our guests who hadn’t arrived yet. With nowhere to go because all restaurants were fully booked at Monte Casino we stayed on phoning around for another restaurant, waiting for our guests. This lady then returned 10 mins later and reluctantly asked us to stay after checking the booking. By now our special day was ruined and I left vowing never to give my hard earned money to that place ever again. The meals were good and staff were very helpful and ashamed of her behaviour and they apologised many times to us. I wish I had read the reviews before booking but hopefully my message will help others. I am convinced that when they have many quieter days and desperate for clients that she would behave differently. Makes you think

Last minute decision conditioned by good reviews and the factor that is close to home.
We ordered a 24€ chopping board 3 risottos and a tagliatella.
The appetizer arrived after an hour (hams and cheeses, paltry portion for the price ), as for the first we had to wait again after a reminder.
The raw tagliatella and for this reason inedible was sent back to the kitchen, the risottos did not satisfy me at all too sweet because of too much jam (but here it can be a matter of taste) thank goodness that we added 10 arrosticini 2.50 € each, too bad that they arrived cold but at least they made up for the tagliatelle even if unfortunately the meat was chewy and with 2.50 € each you expect a better quality.
Positive note that the noodles have taken them off the bill.
I'm sorry but we won't be back, much better the old management.

We went for a set menu food and wine pairing. We were driven incorrect menus, there were two few wait staff and we waited an hour between each corse. The wait staff clearly did not understand the menu.
In a food and wine pairing all but one wine was served at the incorrect temperature. With an excuse from the waiter that she thought there was an issue with the fridge.
The lemon hello tart was a fat base with 2mm of tart painted on it. Smothered in a pile of whipped cream like a cheap ice cream shop.
All in all, in all, it was an overpriced badly run farce. Including terrible service due to bad staff training and understaffing on a Saturday night. With warm wine and good to mediocre food at high prices.

Been here a number of occasions and really enjoyed. My wife and I went on 27th May 2022.
Service was excellent (Philane) starter of “prawn cocktail” was very good however the mains were a disappointment, both had veal (different sauces) Vega tables and startches arrived cold and meals were sent back to be reheated, the meals came back hot but this also toughend the veal.
Unfotunaltley this is a trend in most restaurants where the sides are cold. For the the prices you pay it is not acceptable.
It was reported to a floor manager.

I had a pleasant time with my mother at Verdiccio. The Fillet Steak was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. It came with lovely vegetables and a pepper sauce and it was delicious.
I had snails as a starter and Tiramisu as a desert and while the food quality was great, the portions were very small.
Otherwise it was a lovely evening out and thank you for the service.

Brilliant all around the wine cellar boasts some beautiful vintage wines and the food could not be faulted. Did take their time so no place for the fast food crashers. Waiters where world class.

This was the first time that we tried the restaurant and I must say that the food was amazing. We are a family of four, celebrating my daughters birthday, and each of the meals were amazing.
The were ample options even for my daughter who is a picky eater. Each of the meals were delicious and the desserts was amazing.
The only problem, was the service which was a bit spotty and the only reason that I didn’t give it a four rating. Whilst the staff are very friendly we had to ask twice for my sons drinks and for cutlery before we received them.
Other than the above, this will definitely a place we will try again.

Visited verdicchio with my husband just before a movie. Food was out quickly, staff were friendly and food was delicious. Had the veal saltimbocca, first time tasting veal and it melted in my mouth, was so good. My husband had a chicken pasta, he also enjoyed it. The pasta portions are quite big. Really good restaurant, will definitely be back.

Never even got to go! Booked on Dineplan, they cancelled because they had a prebooking!
Was finally called after 5hrs and told "it's not their problem". So disappointed as this was a requested booking from a UK visitor after 2 years!
Spoke to a person that said its nit their problem and was told ill hear from a manager. The manger called and said "" I'm babysitting, but can't help you. You booking is cancelled and what do you want me to do".
At a loss for words I said alright I hear you, only to have the phone put down.
I will never recocomend my overseas clients again. Horrible service and attitude!
