The taster main course which has 3 different preparations of the meat/game/poultry or fish is always delicious and innovative. Having the sweet tasting plate to share or eat all by yourself is also a winner. The acoustics not great so can be quite noisy.

Innovative menu. Strawberry crumble and liquorish ice-cream sublime. Very consistent quality food . Tasting plates worth the while!

It was good to have a menu that is different. The service was good, the food tasty and ambience nice. Only negative is that it is quite pricey.

Good service. Comfortable. Quality food. Limited wine menu (prices not clearly marked). Easy parking. Salt and pepper squid is very good.

If looking for a descent wine collection and variety. Always ask for specials and the sampling dishes.

The food was tasty, the ambience was good, and the service was average. However the prices are high and spoilt the overall eating experience.

The service was really fantastic and our waiter was friendly and helpful. My partner and I both had the deboned tandoori chicken but were a bit disappointed with the creamy dish we were served. I preferred their previous menu and would love more chicken dishes on it but that's just me. The decor and atmosphere is really fun and different... More

After being away from SA for a while this was my first lunch back. We ordered the fillet and ostrich with 2 fruit drinks. The waiters were quick, friendly and knew the menu well. When the food arrived the presentation was amazing - everything looked incredibly fresh and delicious. The meat was soo tender and full of flavour, not a... More

Had the tasting plate, today it was fillet served 3 ways. The fillet dressed with mushrooms and truffle oil was delicious, however the second piece had a mustard hollandaise sauce which was not the best and thirdly, pieces of fillet in a tomato stew style sauce, served in a vol- au-vant, was stale and unappetizing. My daughter had the chicken... More

First and most, I have to say that I don't like Johannesburg. Though it is the main city of South Africa it doesn't sound as a city to me. But one can get great food experiences in Johannesburg. Licorish Bistro is a fantastic experience. The décor is good - the only downside is its location (in a shopping centre) Service... More
