What a beautiful experience! Every Thursday there is a cultural dinner held from 7:30 - 9pm at this traditional charming hotel in Canggu and I'm over the moon it was my first real taste of Bali! I enjoyed a fantastic 3 course meal (paid for w/ ticket when I pre booked) --> any alcohol or additional a la carte items are extra. The service was 10 stars, the lovely hostesses were super friendly and helpful, constantly making sure guests were attended to and overall very welcoming. The entertainment portion itself is three dances which had different religious/traditional meanings, explained to us by the show host. I recommend this cultural evening to any first time visitors to bali, or even if you're a regular and haven't enjoyed Balinese dancing yet - Totally worth it!
Tip: In case you get there early, they are happy to seat you and get you settled in with snacks and drinks. Traffic is heavy in that area, so depending on where you are staying, give yourself at least 1.5 hours to get there! I was at the beach earlier that day and was able to see the gorgeous sunset right before the show, at Sunset Point - a popular spot about six minutes away, to grab a drink and observe the natural beauty among other onlookers beforehand. It's a perfect date, family and/or solo night out! GO GO GO :) I would honestly do it again this trip, a charming night not to missed!

It's a must visit, it really is. Authentic Indonesian cuisine hosted by lovely Balinese staff in a wonderful old traditional style Balinese building. An overall experience rather than just dining.
We can highly recommend the satay sticks, the pork belly and the seafood noodles, all with different sambals. I love sambal matta but it was great to try other styles of sambal from other parts of Indonesia.

There is some historical reasons for this. During the Second World War Japanese occupied some south East Asian countries and shared the Japanese cuisine, I assume with some well chosen Balinese. As a result there is a fusion Japanese-Balinese cuisine at this restaurant. The sushi was excellent.

The food gave me the Bali belly - do not go there!
A part of the location was under construction so the location was not as seen on the pictures. The staff was lovely but they will charge you 40k idr more for premium alcohol in the cocktails. We ordered starters first and I needed to go home because I needed to through up. The night was horrible and both of us had Bali belly from that restaurant. I don’t recommend going there. I sent them a email after that experience and the answer was : Hi there, we do apologize for that we will report this to our manager also. Thank you

Dear Ms. Carla,
I’m very sorry to hear that you have been sick with Bali belly. We have investigated the matter very seriously and we can 100% confirmed that all the food ingredients arrived fresh from our supplier that day. Needless to say, as a luxury hotel we follow very strict hygiene procedure and always received the highest score within the ministry’s lab tests.
You wrote that you had to go home right away after the first starter to throw up. “Bali belly” normally does not happen from the food you have just consumed on that very instant, it will take as early as a few hours, so may we kindly suggest that it is possible that you have gotten the sickness from somewhere/something else that had been consumed hours or even up to a day before.
Lastly, the items you have ordered were ordered by many guests that day and we have checked with some of our guests who are still staying in the hotel, and nobody had any issue.
Regarding what you wrote about how we replied, we have written you through whatsapp an extensive detailed reply following the reply from our general number about our investigation, which seemed to have been read the day after you sent us the message, but we did not receive further feedback from you.
Once again, our deepest sympathy and we wish you nothing but a speedy full recovery.

Iwa restaurant is the place you need to visit when you are in/near Canggu and are in for a nice traditional meal. The place is breathtaking in beauty, the food excellent and staff very kind and helpful. No worries if you are not familiar with the cuisine - they will tell you all about it and recommend the best dishes.

This restaurant, along with the entire Tugu Hotel where it is housed, has left me open-mouthed in amazement. Everything in it is absolutely authentic, from the food, service, decor and ambiance. From the moment we entered and were given towelettes to refresh ourselves to the last mouthful of dessert, we felt like we stepped back in time where hospitality was genteel, refined and genuine. I highly recommend readers to come and have this unique experience for yourselves.

We stumbled across this restaurant as we saw the gorgeous lobby of the Hotel Tugu, which is set back from the road.
The gorgeous timber roof/building was one huge restaurant but there were not many people there. My husband decided we would have dinner there though as it was his 50th Birthday.
When I mentioned this to the waiter, he said we have a special room for you.
Wow, oh wow! It was just a small room that holds about 8 people, but just one table. There was only four of us. We had these ornate gorgeous windows that all opened out onto a lake below and we could hear trickling water all around us. This was the most perfect room where we were treated like royalty. The lighting was low and moody, We feasted on divine food and cocktails and chatted with the waitstaff. All of the entree items we shared and theses were so tasty. Mains were absolutely divine also.
The staff found out my husbands name and brought him a superb dessert with Happy Birthday on it. We could not have been happier to have had his 50th Birthday dinner here.

Very good restaurant with super friendly staff. You will be welcomed in a friendly atmosphere and the food is authentic Indonesian. All the different dishes we ordered were delicious. Moreover, they were very friendly to small children. Definitely recommended.

Just by chance passing by and found IWA Restaurant. Food was amazing and the restaurant itself is inside a Tugu luxury hotel.
Staff super friendly and I didn’t think it was possible to eat so much food but the Indonesian flavours were delicious.
Highly recommend.

We visited IWA for a night of Balinese dance. An unforgettable night. There were many thoughtful touches as soon as we sat down & the service was impeccable. Our food was good and the nasi campur was served in a giant wood carved boat! Amazing. The dancers & musicians were captivating to watch & listen to. I highly recommend going to watch this dance over dinner.

If you're looking for a good restaurant to hang out with your family or love ones, this place is it. Not only can you enjoy a delicious dinner, but they also have a delightful Balinese Dance performance going on every Thursday night. It's like hitting two birds with one stone. So much fun!

Great new Indonesian Restaurant IWA in Batu bolong.
Spectacular presentation where you can try many different dishes in a boat like dish.. They call it Congklak.
Very authentic Indonesian food. Nothing like you find in the street. You can tell they are passionate about their food.
Will be back before we leave to enjoy their Balinese Dance evening on Thursday.

The service was precise, on time and very hospitable. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The food was great. We had an wedding anniversary of one of my friends and we book the whole floor inside which was traditionally decorated with antiques and old statues. Kind of spooky for some of us but I was fine and enjoying the background. The food I had was Salomon, rice and few rounds of drinks. We also had a round of Indonesians food which was quite nice. The ambience is good and decorated as deemed fit.

We had a great time at the Iwa restaurant, within the Tugu Bali hotel.
The setting is magnificent, in the heart of Bale Agung, a change of scenery guaranteed!
I chose my favorite dish, Rendang, and my wife Nasi Campur Bali. They were excellent.
Don't hesitate to cross the threshold of the hotel.
The staff is attentive, smiling and professional.
We will return with pleasure when the opportunity presents itself again.

Firstly the decor is fantastic, it feels like you stepped back a hundred years. The service was excellent. The food could not be faulted. I am old enough to not be able to say this was the best meal ever, but it is up there with the finest. Until the bill arrived. It is by far the best value I have ever had, for such a high quality meal. We had a mixture of the Nasi Kampur and we are all still talking about this meal.
