Staff and other guests were very friendly. Food is very casual as described but very good. Burgers were excellent! Homemade pies amazing! Out of the way but perfect stop on way to Kroschel Wildlife Center. Four stars instead of five only because of prices - however this just might be normal for Alaska.

It's about 40 minutes from Haines and has a really cool dining room. The food everyone in our group had was ok but when ordering the salmon burger you would expect a piece of salmon. No, it was a salmon patty with unappetizing spices which resulted in Tums...Tums...Tums. and a long drive back to boot.

My wife and I dropped in after a day of photographing eagles. We had burgers and hot chocolate! Waitress was friendly and the place was clean, warm and welcoming. Really good food, 33 miles outside Haines. Well worth a stop!

This is a icon stop for anyone traveling through to or from haines Ak. Great atmosphere with alot of history. Food is always good, as long as you are okay with roadhouse food, this is not a fine dining establishment! Owner is there hanging out to talk to. Just a good alaskan style stop. During the winter they run heliskiing... More

Rustic bit of old Alaska, worth a stop just to look at the furnishings and memorabilia. Good lunch specials, good srvice, nice people. Was the only place open between the Canadian Border and Haines, convenient to eagle watching.

We had great service and meals. The day we visited, we had visited the Kroschel Wildlife Center and after that tour we were hungry. This place provided a clean atmosphere and excellent food. Check out the specials as well. The day I was there they had a killer sandwich called the Mendenhall.

Rustic Americana décor fits this home-made food café. We had breakfast and every meal was generous. The specials are worth a look as they were the best things on the menu the day we were through: a beni breakfast with biscuits and gravy, a shrimp omelet, and chicken-fried steak. I had a lighter breakfast of fresh toast and eggs which... More

My family ate a meal here after visiting Kroschel's and enjoyed ourselves. The pie is 3*** only, and small and expensive; but the burgers were delicious and filling.
