Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overall, the food and service were excellent, and we received very personalized service – a special thanks to Baldwin for always remembering our name and taking great care of us! The location just couldn’t be better on the open verandah with a stunning view of...the lagoon. The complimentary breakfast was extensive, providing a choice of a continental-style breakfast, a cooked breakfast, or both. We enjoyed the eggs benedict so much that we ordered it two days in a row. The cafe latte (also included in the complimentary breakfast) had great flavor—the best coffee we had during our visit to the Cook Islands. Both nights, we ordered from the nightly dinner specials menu and enjoyed a selection of fish, steak, and pasta dishes. The wine list had a good variety of NZ wines at a range of prices. You can’t beat the view, service, and food!More

The quality of the food is high and the environment is charming. Personnel is gentle however the dining list is not large and the service is very slow. Dining price is within the range of the local restaurants.

We were non-residents that stopped by for lunch and coffee at the bar. Very nice outside seating area with shade and a bit of wind. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was ok - we had the catch of the day and fried...rice with beef. The fish (tuna) was dry, and the rice lacked a bit of flavor. The desserts and coffee were very good. Beautiful views, and we did enjoy the lunch.More

We were in-house guests and return visitors to the resort. We found the food and service to be consistently excellent across all the meals we ate here. Add to that the stunning views! We also appreciated all the flowers on our table for our 25th...anniversary dinner. Thankyou Baldwin and the rest of the Team!More

We went to this restaurant frequently during our stay at Pacific Resort Aitutaki, so ate breakfast and dinner. The quality of the food is very good. For dinner we mostly ate a range of different fish dishes as main courses, all very good. My favourite...starter was the sushi. Best dessert, the passionfruit pavlova. For breakfast you can get a really good range of food, do order the tropical smoothie, it's so tasty! It is not obvious that you can get barista coffee so may pay to ask. Service can be a little slow if they are very busy, but is very friendly. One of the nights was out wedding anniversary and they decorated our table with flowers, a lovely touch! View from restaurant is spectacular.More

The dining room is open to the beautiful views and one can be seated on verandah areas. The lagoon teaming with fish is very visible. The bird life is spectacular. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu is excellent. Freshfruit was somewhat limited...e.g. pine apple.More

Wonderful food at both breakfast, lunch and dinner. Absolutely deserving of its 5 star rating with delicious dishes every time. We stayed at the Pacific Resort for 5 days and looked forward to every meal. All the staff were very attentive and helpful. Could not...fault anything and the sunset dropping over the horizon really is a treat over dinner.More

For starters we weren’t house guests. We were dressed as well as & better in most cases than the rest of the people in the restaurant. When we arrived we were the 1st customers for the night & were shown to our table. Approximately 8...couples arrived separately after us & all were in house guests. We had placed a drinks order & waited…….then placed our food order…..still waiting for drinks. Meanwhile the guests who arrived after us had all received their drinks & entrees to the point where most of their entrees were finished even before our drinks arrived. The lady serving us was very nice but noticed how well the other guests were being treated…..” watch the step, you are a special lady” , “ would you care for another drink sir”. These are just some of the comments we heard. In conclusion we felt like second class citizens. This is the first time we have ever been made to feel this way & will never be back…..will let our friends know the same.More

Absolutely delicious meals overlooking the sunset side of Aitutaki, but it is on the expensive side. The staff and service were excellent. Rapae Bay Restaurant is open for dinner only and the Blackrock Bar is open for lunch and drinks throughout the day (at least...during the summer off-season).More

My wife and I stayed at the Pacific Resort where this restaurant and bar are located, so we took most of our meals here. The a la carte breakfast and all-day lunch menus are great but visitors staying elsewhere are most likely to come for...the excellent dinner fare which is rightly claimed to be the best on Aitutaki, if not in all of the Cook Islands. Although not cheap, I believe every item on the menu represented good value and the atmosphere, cuisine and service were all exceptionally good.More

I am sorry to write this review from such a negative perspective but I would not give this portal justice if I sugarcoated something that it wasn't; The Good - we made the reservation a couple days in advance and arrived promptly for our scheduled...time - very impressed by the beautiful flowers coming from the main road, then quick passage through a very nice lobby and you have the open views of the black rocks on the beach and the restaurants - truly picturesque We were greeted by a friendly lady and seated at the upper tables - views pretty great despite not being "allowed" to the main deck area, I don't like restaurants for doing that only for their hotel patrons as if outsiders were 2nd class citizens but I knew that in advance and yet decided to come here so this one is on me - again, for the record views were still great so nothing to complain here other me finding this a poor taste as at the end of the day we all pay the same $ for the meal... The Bad: Now here is where it all started to downhill for me... the bugs were eating as alive... absolutely insane... and then arrived our wine... my glass looked like it hasn't been wiped/cleaned for a few days... being a down to earth guy I decided not to say anything not to waste the wine... it happens right? then came the food... the Iki Mata was awful... it had absolutely no taste... the chef's sushi selection was also very meh (the 4 pieces with just veggies in them on a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean still puzzles us both...)... the service completely disappeared... as I was watching all of the tables being helped/asked etc. we were just given wine/food and that's it... so it took as a while to even be able to order the dessert... The Ugly: then the service person took away all of our silverware and brought new spoons for our desserts... mine was so filthy that I decided to be a better man and just put it to the side and share one with my wife and make the best out of this weird experience... when our dessert arrived I got excited... finally something that will hopefully taste great I said after seeing the beautiful coconut trio - and it did, I must admit I was enjoying this dessert thinking you know what , it doesn't matter how you start but how you end and we are having a happy ending here... and that's where next to the dessert we noticed feces/poo on our table... I have immediately looked up and notice a lizard on the beams/ceiling... and as I noticed 2 others ones I just lost the appetite and decided it's time to leave... prior to Aitutatki we had the same issue with the lizard in our room in Raro... and I could say that it left me scared for the rest of the experience on this matter... but it wasn't just that... here it was lizards pooing on top of people, next to our food - it took just a little more and that would have fallen into our food or wine glasses... not sure if the restaurant can do anything about it but this was the nail to our coffin right there... and that's something I say is a health hazard, coming from a stomach bacteria infection earlier this year I have started approaching life a bit differently on risks like this... Ironically, we were "almost forced" the next day to return to Rapae Bay for lunch as our original place was cash only and we didnt want to drive all the way back to our hotel... after such a bad experience the day prior we desperately looked for another place just not to be "forced" to return here, again I am very sad to say this but this is a true story... the pictures may look stunning but the reality was far from itMore

Rapae restaurant has a beautiful view of the ocean and as the sunsets (if it’s not cloudy and rainy) it’s amazing!!! We unfortunately got the bad weather for basically our entire stay in Aitutaki but we got to see the potential of what could be....The staff were lovely to deal with. Our food was a-bit of a hit and miss tbh - rib eye steak was a thick piece of steak but not cooked at all to how we asked but it was nice - kumara fries side was yummy - roasted potatoes side was yummy - local veges side were bland and not worth it, was basically boiled frozen vegetables - lava cake was ok - pineapple cheesecake was amazing!!! Small portion but so good Only other thing is that we were on our honeymoon and asked if it was possible to get a seat along the edge, this is apparently reserved for in-house guest only which I find sad as we are all paying a price to eat at the restaurant and if you want customers then it should have some flexibility as not all the tables were even in use while we were there and when we left.More
