Next to Koru Cafe (also close by) I would say Blue Lagoon Restaurant was our best and fav experience on Aitutaki - we came here multiple times for either sunset drinks or food - the service here is great, food and drinks tasty (especially their Pina Coladas made with real coconut stuff) Their menu maybe small and not super exciting but we noticed food options arent that plentiful around Cook Islands at restaurants for some reason - I would love to see a fish burger for instance :) but trust me everyone can find something here - plus those views... did I say those views? oh yes that Aitutaki Lagoon and the susnets here... I am super happy that we also concluded our trip to Aitutaki with the final meal here as well - this place is awesome! TIP: it's literally across from the Aitutaki Village resort - they offer lunch and dinner for the outside guests - and the very front tables are for the hotel patrons, but here if there are no hotel patrons they allow outside guests to have those tables to which I bow my head to them for and big respect guys! :)

Last minute stop for a little light dinner, we had been wanting to stop in as the restaurant is right on the water and has a lovely view on Ootu Beach. Lady who served us was lovely and prompt, we ordered fast and our food came our pretty quickly also. Food - grilled chicken, rice and salad - you get a boneless chicken thigh cut up into 3 small pieces which is covered in herbs of some sort, had a little spice kick but was ok. Heaps of salad. Overall it was basic but was ok. - fish chowder with toasted bread - was very bland with more sauce than fillings. Bread was nice though

Overlooking the lagoon, this simply furnished restaurant has a very limited menu. Our reef fish dinner was well cooked but the accompaniment was bland and uninspired. The prices were reasonable but, unlike almost everyone else we met in the Cook Islands, the servers were surly, off handed and suffering from a personality bypass.

There are only 3 or 4 tables right on the water in this waterfront restaurant. So book ahead to secure the prime spot. The view is outstanding, involving pure white sand under crystal clear water and that lovely turquoise water colour. THere is no sunset to witness as the sun drops below a ridge on the other side of the lagoon. The view is only worthwhile by daylight, so a lunch or very early dinner is the pick rather than an evening dinner at 7pm. Food quality is high although menu choice is limited. Some menu items may not be available due to exhausted supplies on an island which ships in most of its food.

Generous proportioned meals that were delicious. The accompanying salad was fresh, and succulent with fresh fruit included. Highly recommend first of all making the trip to end end of the runway and having dinner here. The grilled Tuna, with creamed Rukau was superb, as was the Rib Eye Steak. Accompany those dishes with a Pina Colada or two and you won’t be disappointed. Beautiful!

The location is the key for this restaurant. The menu is limited but well executed but the amazing views out over the Aitutaki lagoon make the meal. Well cooked Tuna Steak and my wife is still raving about her fish curry two weeks later! Cheap cocktails and drinks also add to the experience.

Thought we would enjoy our first night in Aitutaki watching the sun set over the lagoon. The Blue Lagoon Restaurant & Bar sits right on the edge of the lagoon and you can watch the fish swin by from your table.

Reading other recent reviews gave us the impression that this could be a gem - it isn't. Overall the value was poor. Happy hour cocktails were cheap and quite good. 5 mains on the menu, Steak, fish or chicken Curry, fish or chicken and rice with salad. No chicken today! The fish was tuna and nice but really nothing special for the price (over $30). We have had far better meals on Aitutaki for less and more (try the Pacific). Service was adequate. Location is great, the best part. Maybe come for a drink, get the views and tranquility and eat something elsewhere.

Managed to squeeze a last minute booking to the Tuesday Island night and it was just perfect. The food here was next level island kai, pork cooked to perfection and the entertainment was straight to the point quality act. What this performance tops over other island nights is the added informative session sharing history of Aitutaki in a more creative approach. Well done to the team here, together you made this a valuable experience. Ngā mihi.

We have been to Aitutaki a number of times and always look to eat in mid price places as much as possible to avoid resort restaurant prices. We made a booking and popped in to the Blue Lagoon at 7.30pm. The beach and water is really nicely lit to give a beautiful view from the restaurant deck. We’d had a big lunch so went straight to the main. We both ordered Fish of the Day and they were beautiful. Succulent, tasty fish with rice, salad and two delicious sauces. No room for desert but we left very satisfied. A recommended spot for dinner on Aitutaki.

Basic venue with great food in an even better location. Staff lovely and friendly, nothing is a problem for them! Great sunset and waters edge lit at night to see the fish jumping. Really enjoyed our night (happy hour 5-6pm which is another bonus, but drinks were already quite cheap)

What a find this place is delish food and cocktails. Come in the evening at sunset for a lit lagoon enticing the fish to come and play.
