Nondescript place in downtown SJ. We were seated right away, served with a smile and took the suggestions of the waitress. Their menu special offered variety (I had a beef dish, very tender & tasty and my friend had chicken), and also included a beverage,...More

I ate at La Criolitta twice (breakfast and lunch), both experiences excellent. The price was right--the portions massive--the quality of the food exceptional. Breakfast consisted of melt in your mouth steak and eggs (rice & beans--coffee, juice...). Lunch was sea bass in garlic sauce with...More

After a very long day arriving from the UK we went for a meal and beer as it was near the hotel. Tasty food and plenty of it. Friendly staff too. Two main courses and two small beers came to 15000 colones, so not cheap...More

This is a great lunch spot. It is spacious with many tables. It however has several rooms of a nice size. The lunch crowd appears to be mostly locals on lunch break. The choices at lunch time include specials. There are a variety of things...More

I really enjoyed a recent supper at this downtown diner. The food was indeed typically Costa Rican, although I was pleased to find Chilean wine available by glass or bottle, at a decent price.

We stayed at an Airbnb less than a block from this restaurant. On an early Sunday morning, we were the only diners in the place. There was a sufficient variety of options for breakfast at reasonable prices. Our server was bilingual and very accommodating.

I stopped in with friends for lunch. We sat in the 'outdoor' area (covered). The goal had been to find an inexpensive "tipico" lunch place and we succeeded. One friend had the chicken with rice (pollo y arroz), another the chicken soup and I had...More

Not a question, but an observation. The location of the restaurant shown on the map is incorrect. It is further to the east, between Calle 7 and 9, just north of Parque Morazon.
