The place is very colorful and very interesting! I love the vibes of the restaurant and the server was very friendly and accomodating. The serving was really big and the taste was so delightful! I recommend you to try their Cassava chips and their seafood dishes! The rice and beans version of this restaurant was really really really nice!

very near to San Jose Downtown, this place bring you the opportunity to let your senses travel to the caribbean... If you are fan or not of the Gallo Pinto, take a chance an discover how the coconut taste and all the caribean flavors get together in harmony

Original and tasty recipes from the caribbean, in a soulful place in a quiet neighbourhood. Perfect for lunch. A bit expensive.

The second half of our trip was spent on the southern pacific coast of Costa Rica, is was wonderful but away from Caribbean style food. The Whapin, walking distance from our hotel, was the 'one last great meal' before returning home to the US. Nicely decorated, friendly and helpful staff, and excellent food!

I should have known when I went to the bath room and there were no towels...then the sour faced waitress brought the three of us 2 menues...the rice and beans had no coconut milk nor panameno peppers..just literally rice and beans..with some sort of meat gravy ..is that Caribbean?? It's about the same as calling a peanut butter and jelly... More

I ordered Sopa Whapin, a $13 bowl of broth with a few rotten crayfish and 1/4 ear of corn tossed in (and a spoonful of rice on the side) Total crap, and expensive crap at that.

I used to frequent this place and quality used to good. The patis were heated by microwave, making the pastry all soggy and soft. The rice and beans was too salty and the chicken tastes funky. The patacones and yuca seemed frozen and bad. If you want an stomach ache, go to Whappin...

1. There is nothing Caribbean about this restaurant except for the paint (red, yellow and green). 2. After discussing with the only English speaking waiter, we decided to order the rice and beans with tilapia. He said it would cost the same price as the extra large plate with chicken. We agreed and ordered. We ate the food and it... More

I've been to the place several times but the last couple of times, the food wasn't as good as it used to be. The prices are (on some items) somewhat high. The place, however, is cool and the music is nice.

I went today with my family at 6:00 pm and the three of us ordered rice n beans with chicken, the rice n beans had a burned taste like if it was the remaining of the pot in which they cooked the whole amount for the lunch time. The chicken, cassava and fried plantain was ok but not warm enough.... More
