I think they should keep this local as a bar and not serving food at all or at least some snacks would be better. With the prices they are selling the food which is a very bad quality, you can go to very good restaurants in Manuel Antonio. The drinks are so so and the view is beautiful. I will... More

We love to try out restaurants, wether its fine dining or a hole on the wall and in a beach trip like this, we like to eat in small dive bars and we were told to try out Balu that was conveniently located beachfront....We asked how much the lobster was and they said 34 dollars for half to a pound... My husband and I loved this little bar. We sat in the afternoon after some beaching and sun enjoying cold beer and delicious food. The service is friendly and the food is great! The big highlight is that you don't even have to leave the beach to go here!

My wife and I were taken to Restaurante Balu by a local Tico friend who surfs at this beach. The first time was in the afternoon, where we just sat and had coffee and drinks, enjoyed the beach and some good conversation. The wait staff did not pressure us to purchase anything more. The second day, we were in the... More

Good service and can sit right on the beach and wait for the sun to set. Enjoyed our nachos and ginger ale on a lovely evening. The menu seemed quite comprehensive but we were just looking for a filler.

We went late at night, right outside of our hotel, the Verde Mar. Waves crashing right up to the edge of the tables...the ugly lopsided and deserted tables. We didn't get food, and the pics in the other reviews look nice. Menu showed pricey fare. The blended margaritas were almost a lime flavored snow cone in a cheap plastic small... More

Likely the best , most quaint beach bar in all Manuel Antonio! Love the round lopsided stone beach tables, perviding a perfect spot for chilling, watching the ocean, the waves and people. Staff is very friendly, pretty fast service and very reasonable. It is a most unique location, often battled by the ocean waves, but somehow still survives to serve... More

Balu's provides great food with a ocean view. Mario provided great service. I had a guanabana, banana and papaya smoothie that tasted delicious. The breakfast was hearty with fruit, eggs, hash browns, bacon and jam. All to enjoy while sitting at a table on the sand under trees with an ocean view.

The food was amazing! Great fish tacos & the chicken wings (shocking) were as good as they get! The frozen drinks were delicious & the day we were there it was happy hour (2 for 1 drinks) ALL DAY!
