What this place lacks in atmosphere & speed of service, it more than makes up for in taste! I highly recommend the gallo pinto with Caribbean chicken, Prepared with coconut milk in the traditional Caribbean method, the gallo pinto was the best I had (& I ate rice & beans in some form every day). Recommended by a local, it... More

Party of 3, hungry. The kitchen is more the tasty rural than the subtle gourmet style. As we were hungry this did not matter. Pattacones, however, too stuffy/starchy. Fish Filet with the gallo pinto and the beans paste was tasty. Recommended.

We splurged and got the big seafood platter, each of 4 fishes prepared in a different way. Two of these were so salty they were inedible. The other two were great. Service was very nice.

A 2 story restaurant in the heart of the main street, Speaking Spanish would have been helpful, but between a menu with pictures, and a staff eager to help we enjoyed a lunch typical of the area. The fruit drink was cold and thirst quenching - didn't know the name, but since most others seemed to enjoy it, we all... More

Had the Chicken with Caribbean sauce and rice and beans. Tasty and filling. Reasonable prices and good sized portions.

Great local food. Rice dishes are amazing. Salads are fresh. Beer is cold! Vegetarian rice gives you a great portion of sautéed veggies with rice and salad.

We were in Puerto Viejo for the long October weekend with our kids and on our first night we decided to eat at Tamara. It is a family owned business that is quaint and the food is excellent. We had simple Caribbean fare along with blended natural juices. The margarita with salt was a bit strong for my taste but otherwise... More

Came here for lunch. Great service and the drinks were amazing! Right in the puerto Viejo town. The food was fresh, hot, and yummy. I would come back!

Ate here recently and would not recommend. Ordered the chicken with Caribbean sauce. It was dry, luke warm and service was poor. When I asked for the chicken to be heated they heated the whole plate, including the salad, but the chicken still wasn't hot in the middle. 1/5 is generous for the food we were served.

Just had dinner here and after over a year of backpacking, this is on the top of our worst meal. My girlfriend and I both got the grilled fish and it was like eating gello, we both eat a lot of fish and do not understand how they could get it so wrong. Could both only eat a half folk... More
