Mostly cooked over woodstove, this restaurant really holds a tradition of great family cooking using farm to table ingredients, without the high price tag of the modern pretentious cuisine. Really recommended for lunch and enjoyment of the gardens and great desserts.

A must stop after a visit to the Volcano Poas. The service was fast and friendly. We traveled in a large group of two families and they graciously agreed to split the bill. The Black Bean soup was amazing as was my Strawberry smoothy. And...More

Good selection for sampling the local fare! The appetizers were delicious. We had the guacamole. Also I always recommend washing it down with an Imperial!

Perfect place to visit in Costa Rica. Great rain forest enviroment, so close to Poas Volcano. Excellent costarican food. Besides: green area to play with kids, access to local rain forest to visit a small river, and if you want, local rooms to stay the...More

OK, it's a hike to get there but worth it. And if you go on a weekend, expect a wait for a table. Once seated and drinks are ordered, look over the menu. I'm sure there are lots of thing that will tempt you but...More

This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, it rains a lot in this area, eating under the sound of the rain is magical. The food is not great, but again it is wotrh it.

For those of us who grew up eating patacones, tortillas and frijoles molidos, Chubascos is simply top of the line. They have taken traditional tico fare to a new level. And the place and its surroundings are very nice too.

This is a great place to stop for coffee or lunch enroute to/from Volcan Poaz and LaPaz Gardens & Waterfalls. Try the empanada sampler, or a traditional plate of rice and beans!

This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.
