Stopped in for lunch one day while staying in the area ... cool location and setting. Our Spanish is limited but we managed .. ordered a few share plates and they were really good. Reasonably priced, I would definitely return if in the area.

Gallotes are very good and tasty, black bean soup the best, sirloin steak is also very good, cheese cake for dessert. My neighbors have a good thing going.

This is one of the places you will have a nice meal, not cheap nor very expensive but sometimes you might need to be patience as it might be crowded. I have been here several times, last time was with my fiance for lunch time....More

Came here for lunch on Father's Day. The place was a little crowded, but we could get seats and the service was very good. The dishes are mainly Costa Rican casado and sorts. The amounts are large and the food is amazing. The only thing...More

Four of us Drove an hour to a wonderful restaurant nestled in the tall trees near Poas National Park. As you enter the restaurant you smell the wood burning stove probably for the fresh and constant corn tortillas (white or yellow corn). We split several...More

Visited with my family as they were in town and wanted to try something typical and this food did not disappoint, the service was good and the place looked pretty full. If anything it could improve the decor but I guess it's part of the...More

In a relaxed rural environmet you find a nice hut, with great service and costarrican tipical dishes. Milk shakes with local fruits are a landmark of this family owned and operated place. The surroundings allow kids to play while parents calmly enjoy the restaurant. Ah,...More

Food tastes OK it is an average food place but portions are huge which will attract some people so unless you like to eat a lot this might not fit in your dining plans. Moreover, food presentation is not the best as well as the...More

We were a bit concerned of not finding the right dining spot before Poas, so we stopped at a cafe and asked and chubascos was really the only place to go in the area. Now I know why. The location is spectacular, the "typical" food...More

Description
This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.
