I attended Troy and ate at Hook's numerous times as a student. I've since moved to Birmingham which is blessed with numerous excellent bbq spots. I recently went back to a game and ate at Hook's after years since the previous trip. It's just nothing close to any of the Birmingham spots. The side selection is smaller, the meat is... More

Service is fast, but nothing special. You are there for the bbq and it is always on point. The ribs are amazing and so is the sauce. Nothing too hot, but all flavor. I love getting mine to go or large orders when I have company over.

The girl who took our order was not friendly but the food was great. We especially like the regular and large sandwich specials. I prefer the pulled pork. I like my sandwich with the hot bar b q sauce on the sandwich and two extra mild sauces on the side.

Excellent. ...please stop. Very friendly. Very good ribs. Pound cake (scratch made) comes with your dinner.

My son and I were headed through Troy at lunch time and decided to try Hook's for the first time. We shared the Whiz Bang plate. It was really yummy. My son's only complaint was that the meat had too much sauce. I didn't mind though because the sauce was fantastic. We will definitely go back!

While traveling through Alabama, we commented that we should try some southern BBQ, and what should appear just a few miles later? Hooks! We made a quick stop, and were not disappointed. They offer beef, pork, and chicken BBQ with regular or hot sauce, along with a variety of sides, including homemade pound cake. All was served hot and delicious... More

Our family always stops at Hooks on the way to the beach. It is a favorite for us. The staff is extremely helpful. Yesterday, they showed us a few ways to save a couple of dollars. The food is great, and the portions are plenty. Excellent choice if you are looking for great BBQ.

There are all kinds of styles of bbq, depending on where you're at in the country. While driving through Georgia and Alabama, many of the bbq joints feature a mustard/vinegar based sauce. Hooks is one of those places. Though not as mustardy or vinegary as others I've had, there is a distinct mustard trait to the sauce. So if you... More

We had read about Hook's in the book the Ala. Dept of Tourism put out about bbq. Not sure what my expectations were since I had been to a couple of the places in the book that were not any good. (Others in it I tried are ok). Anyhow, we got pork sandwiches to go. GREAT smoked pork taste. Sauce... More

I had there pull pork sandwich that was the size of a burger. It didn't have a lot of sauce on it. I think that would have made it better. The baked beans were good but a very small portion.
