After a hiatus of two years, we decided to have dinner there. We ordered the beef rendang, lady's fingers with sambal and sweet and sour pork, followed by crispy durian rolls for dessert. The rendang was great, with a nice level of spiciness contrasted with sweet coconut. The lady's fingers dish was nice but did not have too much vegetables... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
