This is some good home made style (like momma made) soup. Great rich flavors and varieties without the worry of chemical laden MSG fake soups common in China. I am VERY hesitant to eat Chinese soups made of tap water and MSG with plastic noodles and garbage boiled enough to disguise what it really is. This place seems to make... More

I found this buzzing little place by accident and have been my regular go to for home style cooking when working in shanghai. The foods are well made with fresh ingredients with a slightly large serving size. Staff are friendly and sincere, creating an relax and neighbourhood atmosphere. I will recommend to others whom appreciate basic and good quality foods.

Simple menu with abundant choices. Breakfast items available at different times of the day, depending on the day of the week, which is somewhat confusing. The food was very yummy, plenty warm, nicely presented and basically great to eat. The atmosphere was relaxed and Western. It could have been a bit more organized and clean - the premises did not... I first visited this restaurant some years ago when it had recently opened; was introduced to it by a friend, and the owner was there when we went for lunch. Since then I often stop for lunch when I am in Xintiandi. There is a good range of choices (and now they have breakfast), everything tastes fresh and clean, and... More

First of all the address here in tripadvisor is not correct! It's in Madang Road (Close to metro station Xintiandi). If you have mapsme you can search for it, the map has the location. It's a quite small restaurant but it's busy all the time! They offer from breakfast, over salads, soups to pasta and coffee. It's affordable and the... More

We ve been eating at USK for past 4 years, every time satisfied with everything :) three bean soup is my recommendation along with chicken caesar wrap. They are getting bigger every year: around 4 locations in Shanghai.

I walk by this on my way to the office. So I thought I would try it. I am so glad I did. The coffee is excellent, the egg, bacon, lettuce and tomatoe sandwich on focaccia bread is fabulous. They also have soups and sandwiches for lunch but I have never yet tried them but I am thinking they would... More

I am a big soup fan but have always been disappointed, the soups are plan and a bit lacklustre. I you want quick simple food then this is a good place and not expensive, although the portions are not big. There is very little seating but turnover is quite high so you won't need to wait long if you want... More

This place is a real sweet find. Everything we ordered was tasty and delicious, not merely a good name. I ordered the Chicken and Avocado sandwich with a piping bowl of pumpkin soup. Its the first pumpkin soup I have had in China that was actually flavorful. My friend had their chicken veggie soup. It had a very homey feel,... More

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
