there were much curry house around the place, so this restaurant got not much opponient. The curries they are selling mostly Malay style. The taste were fine but not traditional style, so I recommend Chicken Curry, worth a try!

Been in here a number of times over the past few years. The last time in early June with a group of 35 people. The food is good, the entertainment from the staff is fantastic especially when with a large group. The entertainment certainly makes for a fun night and ensures involvement from the entire group. A great place for... More

We went to this restaurant more than 20 times within the last 10 years. Each time was nice and satisfying. I did not come back since 2013. Now, June 2015, we had dinner. The beef was low quality, the chicken partly raw (and of course also low quality). Vegetable extremely oily. Service of the people? they rather play mobile phone... More

Try the lamb shish kkebabs, coconut cream crab. Lively atmosphere on a weekend evening. Reservations not accepted as i understand so plan to arrive early or be prepared to wait. in the 96 Plaza , Dong Fang Road, Pudong. Short walk from Intercontinental Pudong, Hualuxe, Marriott Courtyard Pudong, and Holiday Inn Pudong. Try it!!

Banana Leaf is now our go to place for large gatherings with family and friends - think 8-10 people. Food is reasonable quality at a reasonable price but what really draws us back is the relaxed atmosphere and musicians that circulate from table to table. Only downside is the service which like most places in Shangai can be either hit... More

Being a vegetarian, there was hardly any choices for me in this Thai restaurant, but still I enjoyed being there with my friends who enjoyed best of the seafood delicacies and personalized live music service.

We were taken to Banana Leaf by our guide our first evening in Shanghai. As we walked through a mall to get to the restaurant our expectations weren't very high but surprised we were. Having a Chinese speaking guide helped in getting the right food ordered and virtually everything we ordered was excellent. We had been a bit surprised by... More

Service is Chinese which means they forget you.I ordered a beer, waitress disappeared and never came back.We ordered some all time favourites of the Thai cuisine.Springrolls,fishcake,sateh.....all acceptable....The Thai noodles are in fact Chinese noodles....not original Pad Thai...price for dinner for 2 very acceptable.Would come back and try again.

There were no banana leaves in sight. We started with a mixed entree platter. The chicken satay lacked satay sauce. The spring rolls were ok, but we had one little dish of a sweet chilli sauce, but not authentic at all. The fish cakes were very bland and the prawn cakes were floury and tasted strange. The prWn crackers looked... More

I ate there 3 times on my last trip to China. It's a chain restaurant, with so many selections to suit every taste. Moderate prices. They even sing and dance at times throughout the meal! Even on hot days the huge leaf ceiling fans keep the place comfy.

Staying in Xintiandi

Neighbourhood Profile
The refurbishment of a block of old shikumen into a carless entertainment center called Xintiandi, filled with restaurants, shops and bars, turned this area below South Huangpi Road into one of Shanghai’s most fashionable areas. Luxe condos house people who can afford the high-end brands that fill the malls and shops along Madang Road. The pleasant Taipinghu Park provides the area with green space and is also home to Shanghai Fashion Week twice a year. It’s not all glitter and glamour, though, as the rise of Danshui Road has given the Xintiandi area a shot of toned-down character. Small bars and cafes, mostly owned by locals, have people hanging out in a formerly quiet, unassuming part of the neighborhood.
