If you're craving European food this is a good cafe. The food is decent and the courtyard setting is lovely on a nice day.

Basic coffee shop in Ferguson Lane enclave. Delicious coffees and simple dishes. It's very peaceful and enjoyable to sit outside on a warm, early Spring day and watch the hustle and bustle of this area. We often come here for coffee on a nice day.

The location in Ferguson Lane is very nice and perfect for shopping; the service is quick and the choice for brunch wide enough. Benedict eggs are an excellent choice

We keep searching for something to compare to Coffee Tree, just to give us some variety of places to go. However this keeps delivering the goods. We go about once a month to treat ourselves and order the 2 course breakfast, juice, coffee combo. Delicious!

I've been there a couple times already and it was always good. food is plenty and price is ok considered you're enjoying brunch in a nice quiet area of Shanghai. service could be better and more attentive but hey... better than nothing! go there and order the two course menu (three if you're starving) :)

Good place for a breakfast/brunch on the nice terrace or inside, both in a week or weekend. We used to stop several times for the last 3 weeks and always had good service and good food at reasonable prices, served but friendly people. Nice to see that the place kept its quality that we knew years ago.

I've been here twice for a Saturday lunch recently. The sitting in the courtyard is nice, the brunch menu is great value for money, but it comes with a quite unorganized, inattentive and slow service. Having said that, once you placed your order your food comes quickly. If you make it here, be patient and you will enjoy the place.

Cozy little spot in the French Concession; suitably feels more European than Asian. Italian inspired fare with excellent pasta dishes and attentive service, but it's slightly overpriced.

Often go here for the lunch special which is excellent value. Good service (even at busy times they do their best) and terrific food wrapped up in a pleasant location. And who can argue with bottomless coffee?

After re opening last August we haven't had a chance to dine here until this month and coming in with kids for brunch we had a very good experience. Menus and decor have upgraded. Execution of food upgraded. It's one of the better places in French concession for family or dates. Local or expat will enjoy the well prepared meal.

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
