My family and I ate early dinner here. The restaurant was running all day, and served us dinner at 5pm. We ate the aaloo tikki chaat, anna plate, and paneer among others. Very good food, prepared fresh, and served promptly. Highly recommend.

Masala Desi The Restaurant is a easy to locate as its on the Main Dagu Road, which is full of Restaurants and Cafes. There are Two “Masala” restaurants side by side, Masala Art and Masala Desi. Pros 1. It’s a Simple Décor, and a simple seating arrangement with Live telecast of Cricket Matches which is probably important for Indians. 2.... More

Love the idli sambar and Dosa. Also fantastic moong dal khichdi. Very basic dishes but if you want a very simple home cooked style meal highly recommend the above. Has a very nice mix of popular north and South Indian dishes which don't leave you feeling extraordinarily stuffed and heavy at night.

Ours was a big group of 8 persons who had gone to Shanghai earlier this month for 5 days. We were looking for a good Indian restaurant where we can have a nice lunch and dinner. Went for lunch . Restaurant is at good location . Staff is friendly . Ordered Briyani and fish masala . They told me it's hyderabadi briyani but it's no where even near to that . Fish is kind of OK . Hope it's just a bad day .

We ordered paneer masala dosa and poori bhaji. Both tasted great. Service was superb and staff was attentive. Mango lassi was the best I had ever. Strongly recommended. In china make sure to ask for spicy food as regular taste is mild spicy.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
