The location is unbeatable (French concession), the Cashier (lady taking orders) was very good with great English, and the food was superb; me and my wife order a couple of Lattes, hangover bagel, orange juice (fresh squeezed), a croissant and a Tartine, everything was really...More

I've been visiting Baker & Spice in different locations through the years but the one in the Anfu lu is the best in terms of the atmosphere, almost always crowded in pick hours but great for breakfast in the early morning during weekends. Breads are...More

Baker and Spice is a wonderful French bakery / coffee shop in the middle of the French Concession. It is so "typically French" that one can easily picture themselves in Paris instead of Shanghai. Definitely would go again.

The bakery goods itself are amazing, but the staff working at the bakery not so good. I often take takeaway and 2 times i got a bad surprise: once they had added soya milk to my black coffee instead of a normal milk, and once...More

After a big night out we needed to refuel and Baker and Spice was perfect. It was a very busy Sunday morning and a little confusing but everything arrived and it was perfect. The selection was great and you have to order at the counter...More

Great new breakfast (hot) sandwiches! I tried the scrambled egg, Gouda and ham sandwich this morning. It was delicious and piled high with egg. Good seating on the front patio or in the back.

Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly
governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French

sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their
mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area
seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet,
