We went there for dinner after arriving in Shanghai that afternoon. We did not know of it being such highly rated on TripAdvisor when we tried out this place. We ordered 3 dishes; a stir-fry black pepper beef, a Shanghai-nese fish cold dish ("leng chai")...More

Loved this restaurant. Friendly, efficient service and food was great. Very reasonably priced. Casual dining at its best. We went back as we felt we wanted to try other dishes plus order some favourites. Thoroughly recommend - this is a gem in a city of...More

Good food, delicious, and very reasonably priced. A far cry from any kind of Chinese you will have eaten in the UK, using traditional recipes and fresh local produce. The seasonal vegetables, (pak choy) were amazing as was the braised pork.

I don't know why this restaurant is rated so highly on TripAdvisor. The food was oily and of no greater standard than a cheap Aussie Chinese restaurant. It was really disappointing. With all the great food in china I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

The food overall is okay, the food a bit salty. If want to try Shanghai's cuisine can try to drop at this restaurants.

We (2) ate at Shanghai Grandmother twice during February of this year. It's a real find in an otherwise very expensive city. Not particularly touristy. Very busy and tables empty fast so it's easy enough to get a table. The food is authentic, unsophisticated and...More

This restaurant is located a few blocks in from the bund. It is fairly priced and the service was pleasant and efficient. The interior decor simple and clean. The dishes I ordered were very good and made with quality ingredients. It was very well balanced...More

I really like this restaurant. The variety of Chinese food (Jiangsu, Shanghai style) is great and the taste is awesome. Unfortunately Shanghai Grandmother is already very well known and popular so that it is actually always quite fully-crowded.

Our first dinner in Shanghai after a long flight, staff and menus don't have much English but foreigners are still well catered for. A busy and bustling place that was not too hard on the hip pocket and delivered a fantastic meal for the family...More

The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the
world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous
waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts
monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai
International Settlement run by the British and
Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has
endured over time and is now found in the five-star
hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive
