The restaurant is located in a big house. Not the easiest to find but I love the spacious backyard. Food was amazing however service was just so so. Would recommend people to come here for a taste of Shanghai which won't break your bank account.

There are now several FU restaurants in Shanghai, and this is where is all got started. The building, like the other FU restaurants is in an old Shanghai mansion, just off the main street down a well lit alley with a doorman outside. The tables are well spaced, and the atmosphere is charming. But, the real attraction here is the... More

We went on a friend's recommendation on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Once you have found it, which is no mean feat as the street numbers are haphazard, you feel as though you are in a grand old house which has seen better days. Inside are several wooden, barely decorated, functional rooms. But they are full of large family groups of... More

Not at all what I expected - the place is in an old villa, but it's cavernous, bare and worn rather than luxurious. The service staff don't speak ANY English - not even a word - and the menu has no pictures. They gave us a list of dishes in English but the poor server had to "count down" the... More

Have tried 1088 and 1039 a number of times, wanted to try 1015 but I was told the set dinner at 1015 is RMB1000 per head thus I gave 1039 another go. The restaurant is in a renovated historical home tuged inside a small side street. A bit difficult to find if you have not been there before. Ambiance and... More

Not easily located . A fabulous villa tucked away along an alley. No one who have ever thought a fantastic restaurant can be found there. Authentic Shanghai Cuisine. Strategy is to order small servings to taste different varieties. Shanghai peas, chicken in wine, dumplings, fish , soup are great choices; no matter how they cooked it! Depending on Seasons ,... The restaurant is tucked down a side alley and I suggest making a booking beforehand as it was very busy. The restaurant is situated in an old villa and the setting is very beautiful with classic colonial features. There was a pianist playing as well during dinner which added to the old world atmosphere. The food was good and the... More

The restaurant is located in an old house. It's not accessible by public transport. The food was delicious! Not too salty, not too oily

We love amazing food and have been eating in the worlds best restaurant. The Chinese kitchen always amazes me. How special are their dishes, at what speed and perfection they are prepared! The sweet and sour mandarin fish was great, but my favorite was the glazed beef with garlic! What a treat.....

Staying in Zhongshan Park

Neighbourhood Profile
Zhongshan Park
The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.
