The food was yummy and the vibe was relaxing. Great place to get a coffee and read a book. The service was really nice and they had nice gifts to bring home.

We were recommended to go to Up in the Hill by family and we were not disappointed from the moment we arrived. Javier and Margot are fantastic hosts, they immediately made us feel at home and gave us a brief explanation of how they set up their home, cafe and shop up in the hill. They have inspired us with... The brownies are good, but the banana bread is like some sort of religious experience. Worth the hike up hill for sure.

Stopped here on a hike to Wizard beach. Fresh made ice mocha was well-needed after a hot hike up the hill. A small shop where the owner works hard to make an accessible experience from a spot that's a little hard to access if you aren't in the know. Worth the time if you're hiking to Wizard anyway.

We had an absolute delightful time in the company of Up In The Hill founder Javier, who on this tour takes you around his jungle property and explains how permaculture works and how he and his wife Janet have experimented successfully with creating the ideal combination of natural farm plants and vegetation over the last 20 years. During the tour... More

While walking to Up in the Hill is a little hike, you certainly know its worth it after biting down into a delicious homemade brownie form the Cacao on their farm. Their fruit smoothies from the fruit they grow on site (mine was soursap, delicious!) was also an added bonus. We did not take the chocolate tour but heard that... More

By far the highlight of my vacation was Up in the Hill. After a 15 minute hike up from the village of Salt Creek you are greeted by this magical place. Enjoying cacao based drinks and taking in the view was sublime. Also, make sure to try their natural body products (particularly the cacao face cream - a great memento... More

This place is the coolest thing in Bocas del Toro! I did the tour of the chocolate farm (2h, including tasting) with Javier and saw plants that never knew they existed! Javier explained us about the 3 types of cacao trees, showed us the largest fruit in the world (jack fruit - which we then ate), he cultivates all sorts... More
