The food was really nice, I would say the best thai cuisine in koh tao! Amazing view, a hidden gem. The staff is very friendly and it‘s very cheap.

The most memorable seafood meal you will have on Koh Tao. Yes, it's difficult to get to. Most of the things you've valued in your life were. The seafood here is incredible. If there are 4 of you, for 200baht each (obviously more if less...of you), you can get: - A whole, huge fish, caught that day, BBQ, with various sauces (garlic & lemon, soy, etc), salad and grilled onions - Seafood pad thai with more squid and shrimp than any seafood pad thai I've had anywhere - Fantastic shakes You can ride scooters up the steep street and driveway right to the base of the staircase to the rooftop restaurant with incredible views of Freedom Beach and other bays. Well worth the trip.More

What amazing seafood and what a cool travel experience! This restaurant belongs to a local fisherman & his wife— he goes to sea in the cove u can see below and she cooks the fish he brings back. I was staying at the Haadtien, beachfront...on the cove at the bottom of the hill, and decided to to try it based on Tripadvisor reviews and as it was nearby. It was so good I returned every night of my 6-night stay. The cooking was consistently excellent (better than my hotel!) and I had the freshest seafood I’ve ever tasted with herbs freshly cut from their garden. The sublime views are the icing on the cake. It’s a short, steep walk from the Haadtien tho u can see the terrace with the bougainvillea from the beach — but just take the stairs from Ramsay’s Resorts next door - and totally totally worth it. The place is rustic- it’s a fisherman’s restaurant- but clean and charming and the beer was always cold. It’s great to support a local and they appreciated the business for sure.More

Without repeating much of what is shared previously, we (family of 4 couples) found this a great place to have a meal while staying in Sabai Jai villas nearby. We visited 10 years ago (when the now derelict wooden structure was the restaurant) and had...a fantastic experience. Whilst the romance of the visit wasn’t the same as eating in the ‘tree house’, the food was excellent and the service was very friendly. Good cocktails and the freshly caught fish cooked on the BBQ was absolutely superb. Yes - it feels like a long way out if not staying on Cape Shark. Yes - it is a significant climb up many steps to get to the 3rd floor of the concrete monolith. Yes - it’s not a boutique restaurant experience that some visitors would expect, but if you want great food (especially fresh fish) , reasonably priced, a great view (need to arrive before sunset!!) and a typically Thai friendly service then I would recommend heading here.More

As a previous review helpfully stated, this place is tricky to find. I would also point out that it is rustic to say the least and we found ourselves missing the second set of stairs on our way in and stumbled into what looked like...someone’s residence. Anyway, we found the restaurant despite a couple of wrong turns and the views down to shark bay and across to another bay beyond were awesome. Having taken our fill of selfies and photos, we sat down, ordered some drinks and started to take in the menu. We were advised that there was no fish today, but seafood and everything else was available. Both our meals were excellent, tasty and had more chicken/ seafood than we had become accustomed to. The meals were tasty but not spicy. However the condiments on the tables were wide ranging - a mild chilli sauce, Maggi sauce, ketchup, olive oil, balsamic and salt & pepper. I had seafood with chilli and pepper with plain rice. It had the typical three or four large shrimp accompanied by lots of delicious squid. It was very tasty but it was even better (to my taste) with some extra chilli sauce. My wife had the chicken salad which she really enjoyed and commented that it was flavoursome and had much more chicken than seems to be the norm here. Our bill was less than we expected, especially based on the quality of the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here and have some fantastic photos as memoirs. The journey here on foot from the Haad Tien Beach Resort was hard work in the heat and definitely not for the infirm, but we are both in our fifties and are very glad we made the effort! Make the effort to get here and we’re sure you will agree that it is worth it!More

Fresh fish of the day is barbecued to perfection in this friendly roof top terrace restaurant, at very reasonable prices. You can inspect the fishes and choose one you like. Vegetable curries are also excellent. A short walk uphill opposite Jamahkiri resort entrance.

I returned to this place hoping it would still be going after Covid. Pleased to say it was and tonight the fisherman brought the catch in to the restaurant soon after we arrived. Incredible barbecued fish straight from the sea and some delicious mixed vegetables....Per my previous review you need a taxi or confidence on a motorbike. The views are stunning although the location in the third floor of a derelict building rather off putting. But give it a try, go for the freshest fish there is.More

Good food, friendly service, best view! But the building and restaurant would need some investment. Restaurant on the 3rd floor of a not finished building, tables not very clean, simple sanitary situation.

Ok, do not let the crappy building distract you but they offer excellent Thai food and the view over the Shark Bay is breathtaking. They go fishing every day for offering fresh BBQ.

Delicious, fresh, authentic Thai food. Five minute walk up a steep hill from Jamahkiri resort. Very good value. Would recommend the barbecued fish of the day and sweet and sour chicken.
