There are many of these in Guayaquil and they have good drinks, pastries and snacks at fair prices and usually a comfortable place to sit and enjoy, though they can get crowded at lunchtime. all we tried had a decent loo too.

Having walked a far way along the Malecon we were ready for a rest. With great coffee, a lovely selection of cakes and pleasant seated surroundings it was difficult to get up and continue on our way. Delightful coffee house ‘oasis’.
Locations everywhere. Very good service. Clean. Customer oriented. Try "mojada de chocolate" and "torta de manzana". Best locations are Puerto Santa Ana and Malecón.
Good quality coffee/espresso with the usual café fare plus traditional Ecuadorian items such as humitas, hayacas and torta de choclo. Ubiquitous as well so you won't have trouble finding one.
Delicious grande vanilla cappuccino, friendly and prompt counter service, and plenty of seating. Appreciated the air conditioning and WiFi connectivity. A really great option..with multiple locations in Guayaquil ...from a Starbucks regular in the U.S.

The heat drove us to needing milkshakes and we found what we dubbed the Ecuadorian version of Starbucks. They had some great sweets to go with whatever you ordered.
