This was one of our favorite meals of the whole vacation.
We were welcomed by a wonderful young staff. Seated outside, beautiful views of the side angle of Rovinj. Service was impeccable from start to finish.
I had the fish with a black truffle sauce that was delicate and refined, really one of the best dishes in all Croatia we had the chance to sample. Kitchen is way up on the third floor, kudos to the personnel who work in such a tiny environment and turn up beautiful dishes like that.
As other posters have mentioned, Puntalina is quite expensive but we thought the quality was there all along the way to justify the price. Probably better for lunch than dinner to enjoy the views.
Highly recommended, I would go back there in a heartbeat.

The location is simply beautiful; the tables on the rocks by the sea create a unique and really suggestive atmosphere. Eating seafood being 2 meters from the seaside is priceless.
The food then, is amazing. Everything we tried, from the appetizers to the pasta and the grilled fish were cooked close to perfection. Fresh products properly treated, friendly personnel and picturesque location made our lunch experience in this place unforgettable.

AWESOME meal and location. The dinner experience was the absolute highlight of our group's trip in Rovinj. When people ask me what my favor experience in the city was, I tell them our dinner at Puntulina. Our seats could not be beat as we sat on the corner of the restaurant on the lowest level next to the water and had a beautiful view of sunset. The food was fresh (particularly the fish and seafood) and very Mediterranean (Italian-inspired without being pasta heavy). Wine selection was more limited, but all local wines to either Rovinj or Istria which was fun (not expensive as each bottle was ~$30 - $50 USD). Our server was a young woman from Italy who was fun and energetic, and made the experience super enjoyable. We found the experience very reasonably priced for 4 people (~$300 USD total with 20% tip)

We went to La Puntulina with high hopes as it was recommended by our hotel as one of the best restaurants in Rovinj. We ordered pasta with seafood and was brought bread and olive oil at the beginning. Normally bread and olive oil would be on the house, we paid 10 eur for it. Our seafood pasta was over-cooked and cold. Staff was unfriendly, the atmosphere not pleasant and even though the view on the Adriatic sea is amazing, we don’t think it’s worth it if you are hungry.

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel stuff. Eager to show my foreign friends well known beauty and friendliness of Istrian cuisine and hospitality, the attempt turned to absolute disaster. I felt ashamed.
Absolutely rude and unfriendly stuff, pushing guests to get the order, not willing to help with menu and give recommendation, sentences like - “oh you can deal (with the meal) by yourselves”, not filling up glasses with wine, giving clumsy comments like - “you want fish and meat!?”, although different guests had different preferences...and many more examples.
Food was mediocre...however for the bill of over 250€ for 3 persons (just to mention that some people in Croatia earn this much a month as their salary!) I would have expected much more! This restaurant does not deserve to wear any mention of Michelin in its advertisement!
Don’t go there - there are many more nicer, smaller and absolutely more professional and friendly restaurants, where you will be treated as a person.

This place has the best atmosphere of any restaurant where we've eaten in Rovinj. Dining right on the waterfront with seating areas at different levels on the rock is majestic and romantic. The food was excellent and they offered a couple vegetarian options. I had caprese salad and black truffle ravioli which were delicious. The service was very friendly and the place is worth a visit, although be sure to reserve several days in advance because they are always fully booked!

You have to book early if you want to sit outside, we were on the indoor veranda but it was still a very special location and when th sun set, OMG! the Best Ever Sunset anywhere in the World...
The service was excellent, the young waitress was very friendly and very attentive considering the place was completely full! when we left we were trying to take a couple of photos and the very nice young lady meeting guests offered to take the photos and really paid special attention to taking them.
The food was magnificent, it is a seafood restaurant and the food is presented in ways you won't have experienced before, absolutely delicious!
We will return, hopefully we will book earlier and get a table outside against the rocks... If in Rovinj make sure you don't miss La Puntulina it is a wonderful experience, Brilliant setting, Super friendly staff!

We arrived at the restaurant La Puntulina just after a recording studio session, it was a hot end-of-July day in Rovinj, but as soon as we arrived, the hosts made us feel very welcome and at ease. We had a wonderful 4-course fish tasting menu, great wine and olive oil. All the food was so fresh and delicious. After the lunch we just jumped into the sea. It was a day we will remember 4ever thanks to the wonderful hosts, amazing food and the unique location.

This place offers an amazing location, fantastic seaside tables and a wonderful sunset. It also seems like the place is banking on people coming for that. They make no effort to be welcoming or friendly, service is conveyor-belt style at best. The food is mediocre, extremely expensive for what you get. And heads’ up they charged us 20kn per person for bread even without us receiving it. When we confronted them, they said it was for the starter (which was presented as “A hello from the kitchen”). We demanded the 40 kn back and they eventually did. I was not expecting to be tricked in a supposedly up-scale restaurant like this.

Cute little restaurant at a great location. Wine of the house is very nice. The food is lovely, pure mediterannean flavours. But the portions are rediculusly small. The waiter didn’t show us the fish before preparration and he didn’t clean the fish in front of us. When it arrived on our plates we were shocked. 1.5 kg of Romb fish was split into 3 tiny portions. Romb was prepared on the grill but we never saw the skin of the fish. The prices are like in any good fish restaurant, but we left hungry. They charged 3 portions of bread 60 kn!! All in all... I won’t come back. They have a lot to learn.

Arriving at La Puntulina that our son-law-law had booked for lunch we were shown to our table on the outside balcony, a lovely position with the sea below us and overlooking Katarina Island. It was a sunny hot day but unfortunately the balcony wasn’t fully shaded and that included our table. We ordered drinks and on arrival we asked the waitress if the large expanding shade above us could be extended more, she said it couldn’t then said “look at what I have to put up with!”and left us. There were loose thin sheets hanging from a high rail and we adjusted these as best we could to try creating more shade. On the table glasses, bread plates and cutlery were so hot in the sun. The food quality was mixed with a couple of disappointing dishes, the steak was quite pale with little flavour and my scampi (whole langoustines with spaghetti in a tomato sauce) were small, a struggle to remove what flesh there was which indicated they were not very fresh. Being necessary to book La Puntulina it is obviously a very popular restaurant so no problem for the management in filling tables. We left regrettably with the impression that customer comfort and very good quality ingredients had slipped from the top of their list.

Puntulina is located in the heart of the old city of Rovinj where local and fresh products are served just a few meters from the water. The concept of the restaurant is based on the innovative and fine local cuisine in a familiar and comfortable environment. Reservation required. Pet allowed.

After eating here eight times, we understand why people keep visiting this beautiful restaurant, you instantly feel like you are in paradise.
Yes, the location is amazing, service exceptional, and the food lives up to the view.
In our opinion, you would be better to have a long lazy lunch, as that gives the team more time with you and for you to enjoy the food, wine and views.
This place is always busy, so you will definitely need to book days in advance.
One insider tip, if you cannot get a booking be sure to pop in for a sunset drink and enjoy the mesmerising nightly sunsets.
The family that owns this wonderful restaurant are an absolute delight, and make sure your experience is unforgettable.

This restaurant was recommended to us by some good Croatian friends who have very high standards. I emailed 6 weeks ahead to book a table as we were 8 people in August - I had a quick reply and all was booked - a dinner to celebrate a few special birthdays.
Well this was the prefect place! A table on one of the terraces overlooking the sea, a view of the wonderful sunset you get on the Croatian coast. Our waiter Tony was lovely and helpful making some good recommendations of which dishes to choose - they were all delicious. It is not cheap, but well worth the bill and there are other restaurants in Rovinj far more expensive, that certainly can't beat the location.

It felt like they tried to do too much and the quality of food suffered. Fish was better than meat but not amazing. The staff was more interested in serving foreign tourists than those who speak the same language. Too expensive compared to the quality. Also, if you choose to eat there anyway, don’t go before sunset because it is extremely hot and might affect the experience.
