Very nice in every way. Good service and atmosphere. The vibe was upscale and classic. Great menu and drinks too. I had pork schnitzel and it was perfect. Corn bread muffins were outstanding. You will be pleased with all aspects of this restaurant.

I found the restaurant noisy and the food somewhat disappointing. Among appetizers, the beef carpaccio is a winner but the fried oysters and crawfish beignets didn't impress. A trout special entree was fine but not especially memorable. On the hand, Frank's cake, a sponge with a terrific meringue topping, was the highlight of my meal. Wait staff at my table... More

Impeccable service and thoughtfully prepared food made our evening at Highlands a real treat. The waiters clearly know and respect the chef's intentions and do a good job explaining and conveying the nuances of any item on the menu we cared to know more about. They made thoughtful suggestions about how to enhance our experience and it didn't feel like... More

Visiting Birmingham, I dined here with colleagues for the first time. Very professional staff who know the menu and wines well. All our meals and starters were excellent - this would be a great place for a special occasion.

Great food. Can be pricey but you get what you pay for in this restaurant. I have never had a bad meal here. It is great to try new meals without worrying about it being good because you can bet it will be great.

Frank Stitt set the table years ago for Southern restaurants. There's really is no equal. Way ahead of Charleston, Savannah, and Atlanta. French country cooking served with Southern charm and influences. Not a spur of the moment choice. Plan well in advance. But worth the effort. You'll never regret it.

This is one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. They maintain traditional service that can't be beat! And of course the food is excellent!

Excellent restaurant to go to for any occasion. You probably will be very satisfied with anything on the menu. The service complements the quality of the food. It gets nominated every year for best restaurant by James Beard, and would probably win if it was in a larger city.

We started with the beef tartine and grits appetizers---our entrees were the duck, venison and flat iron steak. If you order the grits as an appetizer, have a big appetite, as it is a very large serving. All three of our entrees were prepared beautifully. We ended the night with the ice cream and cookies dessert. I liked the feel... More
