Tranquil place with cosy atmosphere that serves outstanding coffee. Look out for the plush giraffes! :)

Very different to usual Chinese coffee shops and especially not expected in Chengde. Very relaxing after visiting the huge tourist attractions ;-)

Most of the drinks are in the mid 20¥ range. Decent wifi. Very nice server. I got a cappuccino, it was on the better end of coffee drinks I've gotten in China.

Giraffe Cafe is a super sweet cozy coffee-shop in "downtown" Chengde. I found its TripAdvisor page by desperately searching for things to do around here (teaching English for a semester), and decided to go for it based on the excellent reviews. The owners are very...kind and welcoming. The decor is really quirky and cool. It gives the feel of little coffee-shops you find in the hipstery neighborhoods of Washington D.C or Brooklyn. Throw-pillows and books all around. And, of course, stuffed-animal giraffes here and there. Very cozy and warm. I've only tried their Americano so far, and absolutely loved it. Up until now, I haven't been able to find a decent cup of coffee from a local shop since I've gotten to China. I now know that I really took coffee for granted back in the U.S. Giraffe Cafe and its owners have really provided an excellent experience, and I'll definitely be a recurring costumer.More

Finally a real cup of coffee. If you miss home or want to drink real coffee this is to place to be. Nice atmosphere, home like feeling and a lady who speaks English. There is a big coffee place next door but latte or other...coffee in Giraffe is way better! And the internet is also good.More

This is the only place in Chendge to get a real cup of Illy coffee or a cappuccino in a coffee-house setting - the kind of place you might find in Taipei or Seattle, but almost never in China. There's no real food here, but a...typical day will offer cheesecake, homemade cookies, apple pie or tiramisu from the blackboard. The lovely young couple that runs the place travels around the world, speaks some English, displays photos from far-flung adventures on the walls, and keeps a laid-back setting that lets you choose a couch or a table to sit and relax. The proprietress makes beautiful cakes on special order. To find it, go north on Wulie Lu along the river, pass the PSB police station, and turn left (Bayi Street isn't clearly marked).More

Looking for a good cafe - almost espresso is somewhat difficult in China as tea is there cultural background. In the Giraffe they serve a good Illy cafe or cappuccino with homemade cookies. Young and friendly service

I live in Chengde and until recently the nearest place to get a good coffee in a real cafe atmosphere was Beijing! One of my friends introduced me to Giraffe Cafe and I'm so glad to have found it. It is run by a very...sweet Chinese couple, Miaomiao and Hui Tong. They studied how to make Western style desserts and drinks in Beijing so they flavor is just right. Miaomiao has a great eye for interior design so this little cafe is nicely decorated and very cosy. Service is great, but don't come in a hurry. Each drink is made with love and care. Drinks and desserts are each about 25 RMB. I have been here many times and haven't tried anything I didn't like. The cafe is located right off Wulie Street (the street running along the river), not far from Milan Western Restaurant. The nearby bus stop is Wuyun Qiao (五云桥).More
