Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide took us here after we toured thru the Old Street in Huangshan. Interesting place as you go along and just point to what you want, pay then go to your table. The food we ordered was brought out very quickly, big size serves and very good.

It is located in a popular pedestrian shopping area. Go inside and write down the numbers of the dishes you want by looking at all the dishes laid out on the counter. The food is a little bland and boring, the beer is room temperature and the water is hot but options are limited in Huangshan and this might be as good as it gets. The prices are cheap and it is worth a try. If you don’t like what you ordered you can always go across the street to McDonalds.

If you are unsure how the food actually looks like or cannot read Chinese, this is the place for you. Rather than ordering off a menu, the food are displayed at the counter, All you need to do is point. The decor is really nice...kinda reminds you of restaurants you see in Chinese kungfu movies but way cleaner. Try looking at the intricacies of the wood carving on the staircase, the lanterns, etc. Location is also good - after dinner, you can walk down for a stroll at the Old Street.

Dined here four time. With extensive items on the manu, you have many choices. All items are actually displayed in pots and dishes to make decision easier. The restaurant is clean and modern. Enjoyed very much.

We are at this restaurant for dinner. The food options are displayed. This helps when language is a problem. The food we had was very good. The restaurant was in a nice part of town. Very cheap for four people.

So enjoyable that we went back the following night. Love the mango drink with coconut milk. All dishes were good, particularly the tofu with chili and the local speciality - soup containing meatballs, tofu, various Chinese vegetables and pork.

This restaurant was featured last on the 3-day tour and it was definitely my favorite. There are many options featured, with each dish numbered for easy ordering. The customer can see what will be cooked and gets served very quickly. Definitely would recommend.

Literally the best Chinese food I had in two months. You pick the raw ingredients and then it's kind of their mystery what they do with it. However, it's all very delicious, but a little too oily and salty. Service was also great.

I had a few hours to kill in Huangshan (not much to do besides the Old Street) before my evening flight so I sat in this traditional looking 2 storey restaurant based on the good reviews. I was there at the opening (5pm) along with a few locals so I got seated immediately. As others have mentioned all main dishes (the ingredients) are displayed in a fridge, but there is no English description whatsoever so you will not know how it's prepared unless you speak Mandarin. For the starters, sidedishes and desserts it's easier to choose from as there is a fully prepared example on display. In any case, the dishes I had were tasty (cold woodear mushroom salad, stir fried beef with garlic, chili, cilantro, and steamed cake thingy with green tea filling I believe.) and they were served quickly. This place is more upscale than your average Chinese restaurant, with pretty nice wooden decor and friendly waiters, yet prices remain low. I really liked this place and would go back, preferably with a local to help with the selection :)

Others have described how this 'open kitchen' restaurant works - like several others in Tunxi, sample dishes are all laid out for you to select which you want, writing down the code number and quantity on a pad provided. They all look great, but the adventure comes from there being no Pinyin, so unless you recognise what the dish is, and are happy to accept whatever cooking style comes, you should have a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is easy to find on the main tourist street and gets very busy as soon as it opens at 5pm. If you have to queue then don't worry because the Chinese eat very quickly and are unlikely to be at a table for more than half an hour. Very inexpensive by western standards - we vastly over-ordered for the two of us and with drinks still spent less than ¥170.

Our guide took us to this restaurant for Dinner, its a big establishment situated on Tunxi street. All the dishes or ingredients are on display, you can choose the ones you like by there numbers, further you have choice of sauces and cooking style. Write down the numbers on a paper and pass it on to the waiting staff and then they deliver the dishes to your table. We are vegetarians and this place had the widest range of dishes we came across on our Trip. As the meal was included in our package, the guide wanted us to try many dishes and he ordered 6 different variety's along with two light wines. The quantity was great and It was among the finest meal we have had in China. The noodles made out of sweet potato and the egg plants were the best dishes. The fruit infused wine were the best drinks i have had in a long time.

There was a huge queue when we arrived but we were seated and served extremely quickly considering how busy it was. It's a nice looking restaurant and it's obviously very popular with the local residents. The food was ok, not bad but nothing to write home about. Some dishes were also extremely oily, which seems to be typical of the dishes in Anhui province. By Western standards it's very cheap - for 2 people with drinks it came to about 110 Yuan. However, I've had better meals in China for much cheaper and I don't think I'd go back.

When you enter the restaurant you pick up a pad and pen, then you pick the numbers of the dishes you want to eat. If you are using the WAYGO translator then you may be able to read some of the labels. This a good way to try new things, as you can look before you eat. You return the pad to the staff and you are allocated a table, the food arrives quickly and is well cooked. It is always crowded with a good and noisy atmosphere. We spent around 60Y per head.
