You will find a consistent theme for this restaurant - dishonest. Been traveling around Myanmar for weeks and of the hundreds of places I tried, this is the *only* place where there is such a blatant rip-off of tourist. Firstly, the food is mediocre -...look at the reviews that rave about the place - it's mostly from tour guides. Every dish apart from dried fish was literally literally soaked in half a bowl of oil. The only dish that really stood out was the tamarind leaf salad. Paid 10K for 2 persons, mind you NO MEAT, NO MAIN DISH just about 5 plates of small dishes, all vegetarian. When questioned on the costs - since there was a line item of disproportionate cost - server got highly agitated and told my guide it was the "base" cost of the rice and soup. Please, but even the posher places I ate at in Yangon wouldn't have charged 3Ks for two portion of rice and chicken bone stock! Some of the locals have stated what they paid for their meals and what they had so there is no way what I ate could have been 10K if it were a local picking up the tab. I do not mind paying more than the locals, I understand the practice but the restaurant should not take advantage of this and triple or quadruple the price of their dishes. Bagan is large enough with wonderful dining options so skipping out on this place is of no loss.More

My husband and I visited this restaurant after doing some sight seeing and we were seated at a large table and within about 5 minutes a waitress came out with small dishes. She put them on the table and said "you eat you pay" I.e....you pay for whatever you eat BUT didn't tell us what was in the dishes or the cost per dish. Even when we kept asking different women who worked there no one even acknowledged us. When it came to paying the bill, they counted 17 empty dishes (the larger dishes with curries are apparently priced the same as the tiny dishes of sambols) and charged as 1000 kyat per dish which came to 15,000 for two people!! An older woman took the money and just walked off. It is just a small roadside restaurant and it was full of locals who I doubt pay 15,000 for two people. The food was mediocre at best.More

Very unique place. Staff don’t interact with customers and even try to explain what the food is, spicy or not... So, meal becomes an adventure... but not a funny one... all dishes came cold and looked like cooked 3 days. Also nobody explain how it...is charged... they bring 32 plates and they only charge if you touch the plate... even if you don’t eat it. So, keep in mind, if want to try or just identify what it is, you’ll pay. Not tasty, not good quality, not a good experience.More

Ok, this is another typical Myanmar restaurant and here's how it works: as you're seated, the waiter will bring various small and big dishes. They also will serve rice (regular or oily rice). Food from this region tends to be oily (cooked with coconut oil),...especially the curries. It is ok to ask the price of the food before you eat. Like previous reviewer mention, the expensice item is prawns (2 for mmk4,000) and fried chicken (2 for mmk5,000). others range from mmk500 to 1,500. You pay what you take/sample. Taste wise it is delicious and they have decent toilet tooMore

location is good and can find this restaurant easily. Dishes are normal taste and served with many side dishes. We thought that place is an Burmese buffet restaurant but not really. It's overpriced and not worth the money. Didn't know how they calculate and didn't...tell the price of each dish. We paid over 50,000 for 6 people (one person will cost approx 8500 MMKyats). Really expensive and not recommend this place.More

Food was acceptable but I did not feel welcomed in the store. The bill was way too overpriced for what we ate (1500 kyats for a tablespoon of bittergourd?!). The lady who calculated the cost of our meal seem to rip us off and the...other waitress had fun laughing at our bill in Burmese. Do not recommend. Go to the store next door. It was cheaper, tastier and has better service.More

Once we went in and sat down, we were served so many dishes. Just some were good, we could have skipped over half of them. That said, the ones we liked were enough to fill us up.

Well the place is good and the food is good either. Just don't like the way they are not sincere with the dishes they offered. They mentioned that it's buffet but they'll place all the dishes on the table. Whether you ordered or not so...people will think it's all inclusive. At the end when you wanna settle the bill they calculate each and everything, which u didn't order dessert but they placed it hence u took a piece but you had to pay anyway. That's why please ask the dish you want to eat anyway it is expensive and they can rip you off. So please be careful. I like the prawns big and tasty but oily. If you are not fan of Myanmar food this place is not for you. Even for one person will cost you approx 5500 Myanmar Kyat.More

I stopped going there after the owner lady sells the dish prices from her mouth. When we tried to return the dish we don’t want to eat, they would not allow us. The price of the mini dishes seem more expensive than the actual, big dish....She just adds the cost over her mouth. Hard to ask how much each dish cost. It made use feel like we’re being ripped off when you find out the price of the fried chicken, but only after we ate.We stopped going afterMore

I came here for lunch to have a taste of Burmese food. While the meals were quite delectable and accurately reflected the Burmese food culture, I did not enjoy the way food was served. As soon as we were seated, we were not provided a...menu but were served with rice and various small plates of different dishes, from chicken and vegetables to peanuts. Additional meals or drinks like fried chicken or milk tea could also be ordered. At the end, the total price would be based on the number of small dishes we ate (not the ones that was not touched) and the extra meals we ordered. This could meant that the small dishes they served us were leftover from previous customers and were not fresh and possibly even contaminated. The price of the food was also unreasonable for its quality, considering there was only a meagre amount of each type of dish.More

Highly recommended for people want to try a variety of genuine Myanmar/Burma foods which are commonly eaten by local people. The servers bring about 20 different small dishes of food onto your table, you pay for foods you ate, I guess even if you ate...just a little bit from the dish you have to pay for the entire dish. Very reasonable price, no rip off tourists here, only the dish of large prawns (2 pieces) is expensive, costs K4000, but most other dishes are from K500 to K1500 each. The place is clean, well decorated and spacious. The front dining room is not enclosed so there is no air conditioning, I don't know if there is another dinning room at the back, maybe there is one. Though there were flies hanging around my table, I had to constantly brush them away, this is not restaurant's fault due to flies and mosquitoes are common in this town. Good efficient staffs, serve very fast; I went there at near closing time (closes at 6pm) when there were only two other customers. Foods in dishes are already cooked and ready to be served at anytime or when customers arrive, so all foods are likely not hot or warm, but OK because most days are very hot, anyway foods are better not hot when eating them. Meal comes with a plate of rice and a bowl of chicken broth soup. I had about 5 dishes, at least two dishes were meat and fish, no prawns, total was K3800, I was almost full, that was a real good deal for the different genuine Myanmar cuisines I tasted, though each dish had very small amount but was perfect because I wanted to try as many as possible without paying much. This place is much better than the famous Feel restaurant in Yangon, this place has better foods and dinning setting with real local luxury feel. It is an experience for foreigners who want real Myanmar foods at a decent dinning envirnoment but don't want to be overcharged at high tourist prices. There are some other restaurants nearby, make sure this is the right one.More

Used to be very good, have started to be concern on the hygiene factor of the side dishes, remixing from the old to new is abit of my worried after eating there regularly. The last i experienced was, paying for the oily(So they say honey...banana) banana fritter, but in the end i saw the staff, re combining into the big bowl. which they repick and serve you for desert. what i did last trip was, i'd finish the whole sidedish (into my plate) since i was being charged, and not to let it remix at the back of the kitchen.More

I always go to Myo Myo when I want to eat Burmese food in Bagan. It’s one of the cleanest and affordable restaurants in Bagan. Most of the time, it’s full with the locals. What’s unique about this restaurant is that you don’t order your...food. They give you all sorts of meat and vegetable dishes in small plates and bowls. All the other assortments are also provided. You take what you want to eat and they’ll only bill the ones you’ve eaten. How they do that is a mystery. The food is delicious, and, in my opinion, serving food in that unusual way, helps fight food wastage since the serving size is very small for every dish. So, you can trust that the food is fresh. Food is sold out everyday. The chicken soup especially is very delicious, it has a bit of a mild pepper and hot taste. The staff are very busy and you can ask for more of the dishes that you like. Foreigners will be given priority attention (like in most Burmese restaurants). Update: the restaurant is on going a renovation, so its currently opened in the backyard building. Just find your way to the restaurant and then you will see a small street, go in a few walks and you’ll see signs that lead up to the restaurant. It’s on the second floor of the house and air conditioned. I totally recommend this restaurant if you feel like eating Burmese food in Bagan.More

You don’t get a menu. Instead the staff will bring you trays with different things to choose. Prices vary after type of food. It can add up so calculate how much you order for - also be careful not to choose too much since you...get soup and rice. It’s authentic Myanmar food. You can sit inside or outside. Nice experience.More
