This is the classic Italian restaurant in Bixiga (neighborhood) - could be in Italy except everyone is speaking portuguese! Not sure how easy it would be to get by with English. We had a few types of fresh pasta served family style - all were excellent. The service was friendly and nice. They made a special pasta dish for a... More

Our group chose this restaurant based on the amount of locals trying to get in...mind-boggling...especially when we realized that there would be seating for everyone and no resulting line. The waiters are impeccable; the food was simple, plentiful. (example: Green salad is lettuce leaves and arugula.) HINTS: Each dish, except dessert, seems to be for two or more...served by the... Was keen of italian food so found this nice restaurant. Had a pesto pasta that was very nice. The staff is very nice and they serve you the food in a very nice way. They also have some musicians most days that entertain you with italian songs, very nice!

I've been there today for lunch. Was very disappointed. More of a tourist place. Food is quite heavy and not so tasty. Don't recommend. Was very disappointed.

I totally recommend this place, once is our favorite "cantina" in Sao Paulo. Every single time we went there we had a great experience in terms of service, food, and place. Food is deliciously tasty, waiters are very kind and attentive and the place is very cozy. The price is just fair, when compared to other similar options.

Homemade pasta, very tasty! Big portions: one is enough for two people. Pesto sauce like in Italy. Service fast.

What can I say?? Cantina Roperto is a place that has not changed for decades. What they do is what they know. Home made pasta like no other. Have any type any way you want. We had goat with a garlic broccoli and potatoes. The star of the meal was the fusili with a red tomato sauce. Don't miss this... More

Excelent Italian Food in the heart of the "Bexiga" (Little Italy Neighborhood). The Ravioli, Angneolotti and Lazanha are the best picks in this great place to go in São Paulo.

Staying in Bela Vista

Neighbourhood Profile
Bela Vista
Known for its Italian cantinas, Bela Vista is the place to go for great pasta. Also called “Bixiga”, the area is an important cultural part of the city, with the bohemian and the religious costumes of its inhabitants on full display. In August, the large Nossa Senhora Achiropita party fills the streets with a variety of Italian food and music. You can experience the liveliness of the neighbourhood walking through the antiquities fair at Dom Orione Square or visiting the “Brazilian Caminito”, a version of the Argentinian street complete with colorful buildings. Bela Vista is also home to the traditional samba school “Vai-Vai”. Buy a ticket to a rehearsal and get a taste of what Carnival is like.
