It is inside a bookstore (Travessa) and has a unique list of small meals, with nice people and a pleasant small place. The decoration is also distinct as the food and juices and beer.

We entered the bookstore and my hungry family was wondering why we were there until we went upstairs to the hidden gem that was Bazzar Cafe. The staff was nice, helpful and spoke English. One of the waiters recommended "aceite tudo" (hope I spelled it correctly) - 2 orders was more than enough for the 4 of us. Fresh fruit... More

Bazzar at Livraria da Travessa is a really good place to eat. Unassuming, simple in décor (atmosphere could be improved...), good service and delicious food (best in Ipanema, for me! Even tops the Bazzar on Barão da Torre). Why? Great menu, with reliable choices. Keeping it simple pays off. Try the 'salada de bacalhau com ovo' everyone! And of course,... More

A flight up from the Travessa bookstore, this hip dining spot is a refreshing location for a healthy and gourmet quality meal! The diner is surrounded by book cases and an open atrium of the bookstore. Typical Carioca cuisine with a sophisticated flair, nicely presented. I had grilled salmon on top of incredible Brazilian grown rice with a simple green... More

A hidden gem above the Book Store. Parisian like breakfast served by attentive waiter in a clean quaint cafe just up the stairs inside the book store. Food was grrrreat! Young male waiter spoke fluent English. From 10 AM to 11:30 snag the breakfast special "Tudo" which for $49R is enough for two. Fresh premium fruits, baskets of bread &... More

At the heart of upscale Ipanema district, you'll find the amazing Livraria da Travessa, and on the second floor, Bazzar Cafe. It is a challenge to ones self-control to pass through a bookstore with great title selection and reach a café with great snacks and amazing desserts, like the chocolate mousse attached. No wonder you can find so many local... More

The place is inside of a really cool bookstore! So it has a good environment, quiet, cult and with a smell that is a mix of great food and new books - amazing! I would for sure recommend the gluten free pasta with Brazil nuts, it's delicious! I only wish they had a wider variety of wines to choose from.

Came here for breakfast with my friend who lives nearby and loves this bookstore. The cafe is upstairs and serves a full breakfast. Excellent meal - superb value for money and in a beautiful bookstore set in a great location. Highly recommended!

We tried the Carbonara and it was disgusting. It was supposed to be creamless but it seemed so heavy and oily. The service wasn't that good, eventhough there were a couple of waiters who were quite nice and speak English. We were squished between two ladies who talked too loud before finally moved to another table, just in front of... More
