One caipirinha just about did me in. They're not the cheapest in the city (20R?) but they sure make it worth the price. Plus great outdoor seating where you can people watch on the plaza. A perfect way to kill the time between museums and dinner. Cheers!

It's old, it's simple, but still with great food! The filet "à Osvaldo Aranha" is a must prove! Highly recommend it.

Beautiful location with a view of the architecturally stunning theatre house. Traditional dishes that taste like home cooked meals. I had the Bbq plate which was a grilled steak. My son ordered grilled chicken. Both came with a lot of white rice and even more potato chips! It Included peas and hearts of palm salad and fried breaded banana (not... More

While working in Rio at the Olympics for over 3 weeks i visited here over ten times. The food (mixed grill, pichania steak, Stroganoff, tenderloin and even the pizza) were all fantastic as was the service from Joao Batista. Nothing fancy just good value, good quality Brazilian food and drink. No Tourist measures or prices here and the portion sizes... More

This restaurant has a big terrace on the square, so it is great for people watching. The food is also good and comes in big portions, so you can split one dish between two, Service is fast.

Simply horrible. The meat was hard like a stone (and we ordered Argentinian meat.....), French fries like plastic stick. Only the sausage was acceptable. Wine looked like mud... How dare people have rated this business as 4 or 5 stars? It worth not even 2.

A friend of us did express recommendation to prove the culinary from this place. We went but the waitress was too late to stop in our table, and we hadn't every time of the world. First, we were wainting a Friend, só asked just for water. When he arrives, and we had intention to ask, but with US asking for... More

Many chairs outside offer a great view to the people walking around - sad is that almost every minute some homeless people comes around asking for food and money

Amarelinho offers typical Brazilien food such as all kind of grilled meats, beans, rice, fries, but also finger food and sandwiches. We had beef and chicken stroganoff. quality of food was very good and portions were very generous, service was very fast. So a good place to have a bite if you have less than an hour time to eat.... If you are staying in Cinelândia, Amarelinho is a great restaurant for a relaxing, if somewhat noisy and boisterous, happy hour. Sit outside and watch a constant parade of Cariocas going by while you enjoy a cold chopp or caipirinha. Or sit inside amidst the hustle of a busy restaurant while the game is on tv. Stay for dinner, as... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
