Description
This is a real restaurant by the same proprietors of the fleet of "Saucamobiles," one of the most popular of the new generation of food trucks serving the discerning palates of white collar as well as hardhat workers in the Washington, DC area. In the significantly renovated restaurant space most recently occupied by the Golden Chicken (Peruvian style rotisserie cooking) [originally a Roy Rogers chain hamburger restaurant that was in turn succeeded by a diner before the Golden Chicken), the same selective and perfectly prepared international cuisine is served sans the truck in an attractive, modern spotless decor. Although, like its fleet of food trucks, the menu is limited to a discrete complement of dishes, sides and nonalcoholic beverages, the food is fabulous, service is well above average, and the prices speak for themselves ($8 for a entree; $11 for an entree plus one small side and a beverage). As an accomplished foodee I can't think of another venue in the Washington, DC area where one can get a scrumptious meal with dessert in a delightful restaurant for $15 plus tax a person. While I've long encouraged others to partake of the wonderful food available through the Sauca trucks (including vegetarian), you just have to dine at the Republic of Sauca restaurant in Arlington, VA inspired by the Sauca food trucks. Drop dead delicious!
