The decision this fall to close Dairy Godmother came as a shock to its large cadre of loyal customers and neighbors. An early entrant into the Del Ray area rejuvenation, it stood out as a spot to enjoy great old fashioned custard-based ice cream and sorbet with neighbors and friends. The creative flavors that changed weekly drew customers (including President... More

A nostalgic ice cream parlor with great frozen custard and sorbet. They have a daily special. Closed on Tuesday and portions of January.

The custard and sorbet are both delicious. My husband said that the apple cider sorbet was outstanding. I had the sandwich made with ginger cookies and pumpkin custard. Yummo!

I love, love, love their sorbets particularly the lemon/lavender. My nephews are a huge fan of their ice cream. Terrific place to bring out of town visitors. The chair where Obama sat is always a hit. The counter help, no matter how long the line, is always efficient and pleasant.

I am glad I live 10 miles away or I would be 50pounds heavier. Everything is good. Love the special ice cream flavors but mostly LOVE the Soberts. So many choices.

Solid, full fat, dense ice cream that just tastes really good. Not a super-huge selection of flavors, but what they do have is spot-on. Pretty much a take-out joint, take a walk, sit on a bench, and try not to make a mess. Note that parking in the area is sometimes difficult to manage, so you may have to park... More

Good ice cream, at reasonable price. Nice location , and they have small portions for the kids, which is always nice.

Wow! We have three kids - 16, 12, and 3 - they can all be having a bad day and we mention going to Dairy Godmother and "poof!!!!" Everyone is happy! The custard is amazing (my favorite is the toasted almond)! The kids size sorbet is perfect for a preschooler and doesn't melt before she can eat it. According to... More

Love their frozen custard, especially the chocolate. It is so rich and creamy with just the right amount of chocolate flavor. The sorbets and ice-pops come in a great variety of fun and gourmet flavors. Too many to choose from so I stuck with the basic custard in a cup. I've been to Wisconsin where there is an abundance of... More
