We went to the Sunday brunch buffet. The first thing that struck me was how beautiful the restaurant is. The hand painted posts and beams, and the ceramic tiles blend nicely to create a gorgeous dining room. For appetizers, they had both shrimp and fish...More

We hadn't visited for many years, but we had such a wonderful meal, and such a beautiful evening, that we all agreed that it should become a family tradition. There were seven of us, seated at a perfectly-sized round table. There was music playing and...More

I have lived in Mexico and love Mexican food and La Fonda rates among the best ever. I highly recommend it to visitors to Austin. The sopa de elote was delicious and the guacamole was excellent.

We went because of the half price appetizers. Three of us split the Plato de Miguel. The menu description said it fed three to four people and I would agree if you were planning on ordering entrees as well. All the food was flavorful. I’ve...More

Great business dinner tonight at this beautiful restaurant. Very nice ambience, and good acoustics. Some newer Austin restaurants are so noisy, one could hardly listen to and hear the conversation. The Fonda is a restaurant in which you could actually have a real dinner conversation....More

Came here on a visit to austin while searching for a place to live. The food, the drinks, the service. Everything was incredible. We had the mole poblano and enchiladas verdes. Washed it all down with delicious margaritas and a tres leches for dessert. Will...More

Great ambiance from the moment you walk in to sitting at the table enjoying their great before dinner cocktails to their exquisite cuisine,. Everything in that menu is scrumptious!

It has been over two decades since we last ate here. The restaurant has not changed much, if at all. The food is very good and the service was excellent. Our favorites were the Angels on Horseback (grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon) & the guacamole....More

Visited here 24 years ago and it was amazing. Decided to go back on trip last weekend. Upscale Tex-Mex. The service was good. But the food is a bit lackluster. Not sure the steep prices are worth it.

There was a birthday party going on in the room next to us, so I'm guessing the answer is yes. It wasn't totally private, though.

Fonda San Miguel is recognized as one of the finest interior Mexican restaurants in the country, having garnered national and international attention for more than 35 years. Chef Miguel Ravago’s menu of classic regional Mexican cuisine prepared with authentic recipes and ingredients has made the menu offerings and the Sunday Hacienda Brunch Buffet legendary. Considered by many as “Austin’s most beautiful restaurant,” owner Tom Gilliland’s collection of museum-quality artwork, exotic plants, and international décor complete the exquisite dining experience. The restaurant pioneered “interior Mexican” cuisine in the U.S. being one of the first in the nation to introduce the full-flavored and more complex specialties from Mexico’s interior regions. Fonda San Miguel is a celebration of this distinctive cuisine, its colorful history, and the transforming influence it has had on Mexican restaurants across the country.
