We visited on a night without live music but the patio seems like fun place if busier. The food was good and beer selection was excellent. A good place for families to visit.

We spent a day in Austin and a friend invited us to visit this restaurant. If you get a chance, get a table outside. Service is very good and our waitress helped us out is deciding what to eat. All options were very good. We definitely recommend this place.

Great German food and easy relaxed atmosphere with indoor/outdoor seating. We had the opportunity to check out this restaurant/beer garden with our son. Our treat and his choice - this was one of the best casual pub/restaurants we enjoyed in Austin. Exceptional food selections made it difficult to choose. Everything was great from the atmosphere, service to the beer selections... More

The location is perfect for business trips, very close to government offices.. The price is average. Quality of food is good.

Enjoyed their chop beef sandwich and pulled pork. Both were pretty good and there wasn't a line to get in. Fast service on their back patio with beautiful weather.

Food was average and selection of bier was fair with a good selection of German biers. The best part is the outside seating with the full brass band playing! Quite a treat for a mild Oct evening! Note: Call ahead, this is a popular place for buy outs (the first night we went there was a buy out by the... More

I have been here around a half dozen times for swim officials "debriefs". That's what we officials call a get together after a Finals swim session to eat, drink and be merry. The place has been around for years, 1866 I'm told. That makes it iconic to Austin in my opinion. It's close to University of Texas which always works... More

This is one of those places if friends were in town and wanted to do the Capitol thing, then this might be a place to go to for a meal. It has a long history in Austin, is loved by many, but many memories have been blurred by the beer. The food is decent with a German touch to the... More

Right near the University of Texas campus, you’ll find a great spot if you’re looking for a great “Austin-y” place for a good sandwich or barbecue. This is a hopping spot that we actually went to twice during our brief stay in Austin. Great barbecue sandwiches, superb service, and a place that’s just a whole lot of fun. It’s a... More

We visited mid week, mid afternoon so had the place to ourselves. We sat ourselves outside and ordered a selection of pitches. A really nice place to sit outside and cool down with a cold beer.
