We were there at the lunch time before Christmas and ordered a lamb curry & kinds of grilled fish. The fish was a little bit burnt, the amount of the dishes wasn't enough for even small two persons. But the prices were way expensive compared with other Indian restaurants e.g " bombay bistro" And besides, there was several types of... More

Rainey Street is a little Second World, but a lot of fun. G'Raj Mahal was delicious. Everything we got was vegetarian.

Being from the UK I was wary about the standard of the Indian food in Texas, but this place was a real find. Excellent food at reasonable prices and lovely service from Will. We sat outside with a heat lamp and it was just lovely. Rainey St is fun, houses converted into bars and restaurants - I would definitely recommend... More

This is hard for me, because net-net, I really liked Graj Mahal - I liked the story, the location, the vibe, the really great band they had playing, the staff... but not quite so much on the food. Hence, my 'average' rating. But let me write more... Showed up on a Saturday afternoon with friends, and was promptly seated and... More

Indian food is usually vegetarian friendly, but may have limited vegan options. G'raj Mahal caters to vegans as well. There are options to get almond cream in many of their cream curries so that a wide range of dishes are available. The food is tasty and they do a good job of matching your desired level of heat in the... More

Tried out because it was close to my hotel and on the Rainey street. The outdoor seating was fun people watching experience. Food was good.

Our meal was delicious and good and spicy (just how I like it). Rainey Street is great for people watching so we sat close to the street to enjoy the hustle and bustle. The only downside of this visit was the service. It was par at best. Our server disappeared several times and we couldn't find him to get refills... More

The food was good, service was good, prices reasonable. My only complaint was the noise level. It did not come from the music being too loud or people talking too loud. The place must have very good acoustics

I was visiting Austin for a conference and visited this restaurant for lunch. The setup looked Texan only the the bajaj auto-rickshaw confirmed that this was actually an Indian restaurant. However the food was simply awesome, I eat only vegetarian that day and tried their Chana Masala and Malai Kofta...their spicy version was really nice. The aroma of each spice... More

This restaurant was a lot of firsts for me. First time an Indian restaurant got the decor and the food right. Eclectic decor - you will want to pull out your camera and take pictures of every detail that pulls the look together. First time Indian food presentation got it right - stylish and quirky without being stuffy. Right portion... More
