Stopped in for lunch based on reviews on TA. Really good choice as we had some of the best brisket BBQ I have eaten...and I have eaten bbq from Memphis to Lubbock. Tasty, moist and flavorful...good beans, potato salad, and a variety of cornbread. Abby, our waitperson was a hoot...friendly and efficient. Since we were first-timers, she brought us a... More

Locals suggested this restaurant and they were right on how good it was. Fresh buttered bread, chicken was amazing and the creamed corn dish left you wanting more. Exterior may keep you from stopping but do not be fooled the food is great!

I've been two Joe Allen's 3 times in the last year as I was traveling through Abilene, and it never disappoints. Their rib-eye steak is so fresh, it melts in your mouth. We always go when in town.

Nice down home atmosphere, delicious food, interesting pics and nick knacks on the walls to look at. Glad we stopped on our way through Abilene!

Stopped in for some BBQ and we weren't disappointed. My wife had the two meat plate with brisket and ribs and I had their mini catfish plate. Don't let the word mini fool you there was plenty of catfish on that plate. We had plenty of food to share and sample and we left very satisfied.

Came here for lunch and was seated rather quickly only to wait 10 minutes to order drinks. Waitress messed up my Dad's drink order and his food. The brisket is mediocre bordering on not good. Not much flavor and kind of tough. I had the sliced brisket sandwich and it looked like they pushed down on my bun and flattened... More

Visited Abilene and found the Joe Allen's. Not sure if it still existed. Each of us had the sandwich plate with different meats; sliced and chopped brisket and turkey. Meats were very good. Also came with two sides. Cole slaw, beans, sweet potatoes were also good.

It is like going to your old Aunt's house to get her good homemade food. It is very down to earth and comforting, nothing fancy. The service is friendly and you literally feel like you are sharing good eats with all your friends that have just come from church. I always order fried catfish and hubby orders chicken friend steak.... More

Stopped by in route to San Angelo because of a recommendation of a family member. I ordered the 3/4" Ribeye, which was cooked exactly the way I ordered it. It had a great flavor and no steak sauce was needed. My wife ordered the BBQ Sandwich plate, which had a great taste. They made my daughter Fajita Tacos, instead of... More

The brisket was tender & smoky, the order was very large. The french fries and sweet potato fries were hand cut, but a little soggy. the cole slaw was very good. A friendly place to eat.
