Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have to say this experience was terrible. Staff was so rude and the management was even worse. Came with my boyfriend, and we just felt unwelcome. I sent one of our drinks back because the sweetness was overpowering. The food was mediocre at best....Every response I see from the owner is condescending and rude. I can’t wait to see what he says to this one.More

One of the most racist places you will ever visit in the valley ! The bald tall waiter who doesn’t own the place nor is he a business partner will let you know how her treats you he doesn’t want you there at all. This...is an all white club ! Went for happy hour. It was crowded but the bartender got us seats asap. Service was excellent. Lots of gluten free options and the food was delicious!

We’re disappointed that your experience was so much different than the overwhelming majority of other patrons. Perhaps you could email us and provide some constructive comments that could ensure we continue to be a highly regarded establishment.

We started off with watermelon salad, then Crab cake which was best we ever had, then crab Bisque and finally Chilean Sea bass which was stellar. The Blueberry Carrot cake was a huge portion and very unique dessert but in a very good way. The...atmosphere of the place is like it was plucked from the shore and teleported to Allentown. The food and prices were upscale. We will definitely return in near future. Ashley was our server and she did a fantastic job.More

We sat at the bar and ordered our dinner and waited over 2 1/2 hrs. and still didn't get our food. The bartender was very rude and didn’t seem to care at all. We asked to speak to the manager and was told the manger...was unable to speak to us because she was busy in the kitchen. We paid for our drinks and left. We will never come back here again. Worst experience ever….More

Went today for our anniversary. Our kids bought us gift certificates. Youell's has always been our favorite special occasion restaurant. This was probably the worst Youell's meal I have ever had! I frequently order the same meal (lump crab) because I like it so much....It had no taste. The red skin potatoes and green beans? that came with it looked and tasted reheated. They were shriveled up, hard, and covered in oil. Ridiculous! Upon telling our waitress my disappointment, I asked if they were reheated? She said no. Then I asked if they changed chefs? She said no, they've been here awhile. She said "nothing has changed". Not so! I returned all but the crab. She never offered to get me a new side or replacement. They also didn't give us a roll stating we were in between lunch and dinner. We did order dinners, however, so the rolls came out at the end of our meal. I am not a chronic complaining customer, and let me just say we have spent thousands at Youell's over the years. Hosting anniversary, birthday, and other special occasion get togethers. I did not see a manager on site, nor did one come over if he/she was there. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant at the time as we went for an early dinner. I have never been in Youell's with only 4 people. You would think the food and service would be stellar for this amount of people. All their prices have gone up significantly, and honestly, we have always said it's worth it. But not this time! Very, very disappointing visit.More

My fifth 5-Star rating ever. Youell’s is a treasure - located in a residential neighborhood and obscure. Serving since 1895 is no wonder, extensive menu of fresh fish and shellfish. We started with an assortment of oysters on the half shell. The Chilean sea bass...was perfectly prepared, flaky and delicious. I had the days special, surf and turf - filet Oscar with hollandaise sauce and broiled lobster tail with asparagus and roasted red potatoes. The raspberry cheesecake was enough to share. Our server, Jasmine was a treat! This is a must do in Allentown. Helpful? Please let me know and enjoy Youell’s.More

The seafood was very fresh! The best sandless steamers! The Chilean sea bass & shrimp scampi were excellent and the Paella was the best we’ve had in years! As with many restaurants, it was a tad expensive but worth it for a special occasion! Definitely...worth another trip!More

Busy, lively restaurants can be considered noisy. Youell’s is a popular place.
