Abe has been around and raved about for years, but i only got to try it Sunday night with my family who had been there before. The place was very cozy and tastefully-decorated. The dark wood and off-white walls with well-placed yellow lighting lent to a warm, inviting atmosphere. It was classy, subtly so. Sadly, however, the good stuff stops... More

March 18, 2017. We had a great lunch with my friends and we stayed for a little bit longer for chit-chats. There were only 2 groups of diner during that time. That's why I got really pissed when my request for a glass of water on my 3rd call (Yup! 3rd CALL!) did not arrive. So I shouted on my... More

We Dine-in together with my family and friends. When we were about to order our food and all are seated, a guy approached my friend and whispered that sandos/singlets are not allowed inside the restaurant. Luckily my uncle had an extra shirt. Atleast before we enter the restaurant you should inform us right away that singlets are not allowed, but... More

A balikbayan family member arrived and treated us for dinner. This place came to mind and we never regretted recommending it to them! They had a good time remembering old Filipino tastes splashed with modernity. The group particularly liked the sinigang sa bayabas and the kare-kare. I wasn't able to eat much but the happy faces of our family revealed... More

We came right when they opened so we did not wait at all. if we did-I would have knocked off another star. The fried fish was very good but the rest of the dishes were disappointing ( the betute/from dish was dry, the beef peanut curry/kare-kare was tasteless and not creamy enough, the bamboo rice dish was alos dry and... My Manila-based colleagues say this is one of the most authentic options for Philippino foods. The adobe meats are good; all seafood (prawns, fish) are extremely "fishy." Service is slow and a bit scattered. Vegetables are consistently overcooked. Overall, convenient location but food is mediocre and lacks flavor.

No fear: Abe' is as good as Remedios of Malate has ever been. We had a delicious lunch al'fresco on the terrace, under the shade of a large canopy. Management had ordered a light breeze, which was promptly delivered. Service was attentionately slow, in tune with slow cooking. Tastes are authentic Pilipino, as my mother-in-law always did. A welcome change... More
